Great Kirby Tribute, But with a Flawed Narration Technique
Superman travels to New Genesis where he battles Orion and other residents who are determined to take him to Highfather. This story arc of Superman Confidential is not as good as 'Superman: Kryptonite' arc, but better (by far) than the 'Mer-Topia' one. It does a good job of blending the look and feel of an early 70s Jack Kirby comic with modern style comic conventions such as computer coloring, etc. Even the use of Photoshop techniques like motion blurring is employed sparingly to enhance the story. The biggest complaint I have is the technique of using logo stamped narration boxes. Why is this even necessary? The only person that narrates anything is Superman, and we know it's him narrating. To make matters worse, we all know that Superman's logo is an 'S', so it seems like all those narration boxes start with the letter S - until you stop and realize that the 'S' isn't actually part of the first word, just a logo thrown in for no good reason.
