Greg Pak is heading to DC Comics... and he has the honor of writing two of the publisher's most iconic heroes in the same book! He'll be the brains behind the upcoming ongoing BATMAN/SUPERMAN and Jae Lee will illustrate. Speaking with USA Today, Pak is clearly beyond elated over the opportunity.

Working in comics, almost every project you do for DC or Marvel deals with these amazing characters that are so much fun to work with," Pak says. "But, wow, Superman and Batman? That kind of lifts your hat and spins it around in the air a bit.

    No Caption Provided

BATMAN/SUPERMAN will take place in the past when both characters are new at being heroes. Additionally, this series will reveal the first encounter between the two in New 52 history. The writer also says readers will be "very pleasantly excited" when we find out what the threat to both leads will be. Furthermore, he claims the series will have a lasting impact on the new continuity.

Batman/Superman is a really exciting place to discover who these guys are, and the things we're going to discover particularly in this first story arc will have ramifications later on down the line," he adds. "We're going to start in the past but it'll reverberate through. It'll be big and crazy and tons of fun.

    == TEASER ==

BATMAN/SUPERMAN will debut this June. Viners, does the tag team of Pak and Lee make this a must read for you? Share your thoughts below.

This seems cool, but as somebody that made a goal to collect everything Batman starting with New 52, I must say there are way too many Batman books already.

Jeph Loeb's Superman/Batman run is actually one of the first comic series I read, Greg Pak is a fantastic writer so I may give this series a whirl. Hopefully it will have more of a fun tone that the other superman and batman books.

Same old recycled rubbish...would be nice if DC didn't always cancel 6 'independent' books and replace them with 4 new and 2 Batman books.

THIS IS TERRIBLE NEWS!...IN as much as this sounds like one of the best books the New 52 has put forward and I don't know where I will possibly find the money to pay for another new series. This is a creative team match up I never would have thought of, but its a brilliant pairing.

I may have to drop Snyder's Batman and abstain entirely from Man of Steel to make room for this in my budget.

Damn it I want to get this series but I don't think I have the money to spare. And I'm getting Snyder's Superman series as well as Batman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman and I'm into the rest of my pull list already. Plus I have sour memories of the Pre New 52 Superman/Batman run. Nonetheless, Greg Pak and Jae Lee on a Superman/Batman book? Best idea for a team up book!

When I saw Greg Pak's name, I got excited, but when I saw Jae Lee's name, my mouth just dropped. Oh my god, I NEED to get this when it comes out. I literally started hyperventilating!!!!!

@Outside_85: I totally get where you guys are coming from when you complain about another Bat/Super title, but unfortunately that's just what sells. Hopefully, they'll give Pak another title to write that stars a non-Bat or Super character, preferably a Wildstorm or Milestone character. And I'll gladly support that title, just like I was supporting Deathstroke and Team 7.

um, no, that's not what it's saying. the in the past part yeah, I get that. But It said it will 'reveal the first encounter' between them, to 'reveal' something means to show something that we haven't seen before, and it's referring specifically to them meeting. Which we've already seen.

I wonder if I would feel okay about dropping Detective Comics and Action Comics and just picking this up. One of my favorite artists on it, really good writer, two iconic and important characters on one title. Yes...this shall do nicely.

@Zeeguy91: I know, but it's not like DC is trying to promote those books that get the chop. Like, what has been advertised by DC lately? (thinking site banners)... DotF and JLA.

At times I feel like DC is just putting out some books so they can eventually cancel them and say they tried while replacing it with something they know will sell...like this book for instance.

As for Jae Lee on art...sry but I think it's a waste, he has already proved he does wonders on a Dark book like Phantom Stranger.

Yes! Greg Pak is awesome and I've been wanting to read a Batman title for a while, making Batman and Superman perfect.

I would prefer it if it was called World's Finest though, Power Girl and Huntress' comic has been mediocre at best.
