durakken's Superman #3 - A Cold Day in Hell review

    Last time on...

Art - The art of Superman is mostly well done, save for the fact that almost all the characters have 1 of 2 faces. The slackjawed, open mouth look, or the screaming at something mouth.Beyond that there are some questionable choices with coloring and detailing such as the scene at the grave yard where you can clearly see this half circle of desaturation and blur which just doesn't look good and isn't in any way good art.

Story - We get a recap of Superman and Action comics, possibly some spoilers, and then we go into bland watching the news and bland talking between characters that don't matter. Then we get a boring fight where Superman watches as the city gets iced which isn't dramatic because they already showed that the damage is reversed when the villain is defeated. The villain is boring and the way superman decided to stop this villain is heat vision to her face and hope she doesn't die... The latter half of this book is forgivable as it is just a bland story idea that they started and now they got to finish. The first half however...Why would do that? All that stuff was boring and we just real all that... Why would you recap it all and take up half your book? Not only is it boring from the point of that those stories were boring to read so stop punishing me with them again, but also from the point of view I relatively speaking, just read those books. i want the story to progress, not tell me what I just read. If you have that much extra room write the next chapter and put it in there, exposit on what's happening. Something that has to do with the story we're reading right now.

Characterization - There is none because this story doesn't really follow any characters and any characters there are being used to speak, but the characters themselves are not speaking... if that makes sense.

Recommendation - The series continues to be trash and that is where it belongs. And if you read the previous 2 issues, even more so because this is just the same thing for the 3rd month in a row. Skip it, even if you like this series it's not worth the money.

The Story: Superman fights another threat that freezes the city. My Thoughts:So far I haven't been very pleased with this series at all. It's not at all what I had hoped or expected it to be. Superman is one of my all time favorite characters so it's not as if I didn't want to enjoy this. No matter how hard I try, nothing about this story grabs me. The art has been the only good thing about this series so far.  In this issue we have Superman facing off against another "threat" that pops out of n...

This series is making my stomach twist with an anger I haven't felt since I got to second base with Laura Palmer (Ray Palmer's gym teacher's daughter's cousin-in-law.) in the middle school gymnasium. Okay so that wasn’t a bad experience by any means, but this comic should be ashamed of itself. Not only do we have a narrative about Superman i...
