Kryptonian Mysteries
I have overall been disappointed with this Superman series but that ends now. I wasn't too sure if Lobdell would bring this series back to life and was starting to get doubtful after the Superman Annual #1 he wrote, but as of last months zero issue, and with Rocafort's art he has really taking this series up a few gears. I was happy and sad when I saw Rocafort was doing art on this series, happy because he was doing art on this series but sad because he would no longer be doing art on the Red Hood and the Outlaws.
This issue starts with Superman in the centre of the earth using Shay Veritas machines to test out the limits of his powers. He then realises how long he's been there and goes back to his life as Clark Kent. After walking in on Jimmy and a girl in the shower Clark heads for work where he has an argument with his boss Morgan Edge about what news should be about and how he's not happy with the way news is being treated now. He then fights a giant snake like monster who appears to be able to injure him.
This was a brilliant issue and the art was beautiful, I'm really happy Rocafot is on this series as well as Lobdell who has now proven Superman can be great again. I liked how after seeing Superman test his abilities at the start of the issue he lands up having to fight something that can injure him. I also liked how the creature has mini-heads on it's feet and thought it overall looked amazing. I liked how Jimmy reacted when Clark accidentally walked in on him and the woman he was with in the shower and how Clark was like, but it's my apartment and my shower. I also liked Clark's rant at his boss and whether it was cause he found out about Lois moving in with her boyfriend or not it was fun to see a little bit of Superman's morales come out in Clark. I also liked how the Superman/Wonder Woman kiss from Justice League #12 was mentioned even if it's not getting progress any further any time soon.
Final verdict. A brilliant issue and the series looks like it's finally moving in the right direction. I would highly recommend this issue and if this is a sign for things to come in the H'el on Earth crossover it should be brilliant also.
