According to Showbizspy, Taylor Swift is supposedly being lined up to play Supergirl.
Cryptic enough for ya? Although I found this news report at numerous sites throughout the intrawebs, the info all came up the same. "Studios have put Taylor Swift at the top of the list." You see it over and over again. There is a good point coming out of all of these weird gossip magazine-like websites.
The country music star — who recently celebrated her 20th birthday — is top of a list of young actresses in line to bring back the Girl of Steel for a new generation.
Thanks for the dish movie insider! It's true though. There really haven't been any strong female roles in super-hero films, other than maybe Watchmen. Supergirl is an incredibly popular DC character and since we already have a few Superman films out there, and one forgettable Supergirl film, there won't be too much confusion to the mass audiences. So a Supergirl film is by no means a bad idea, but does Taylor Swift have what it takes to play the part? According to imdb, Taylor has only had a couple of roles acting wise: an episode of CSI, Saturday Night Live, and her first real roll next year in a film called Valentine's Day. We don't really have too much to base her acting ability on. Only time will tell I guess.
“Hollywood is short of female heroes and the time is right for a new Supergirl,” dished one movie insider.
What do you guys think? Is Taylor right for the part? Is a Supergirl film a good idea?
