It's not often these days that a comic book can make it to issue #50.  We're constantly seeing comics canceled or 'relaunched.'  For Supergirl, it's almost hard to believe she's only at issue 50.  That means this version of Kara that we've come to know has only had a series for just over four years. 
 
DC announced yesterday that they will be using some Michael Turner art for the milestone fiftieth issue.  I'm sure some will feel this is a cheap ploy against Turner but as DC puts it, let's honor the man that helped make Kara who she is today.  It's a beautiful piece and we should remember what Turner contributed to the field.  "Gone but not forgotten" they say.  While this may not be "new" art, I do think it's a fitting cover for Supergirl's 50th issue.  It should be something spectacular.

I think his artwork is fantastic and it's showcased quite well here. I hope DC never gets to the point of trying to use everything he ever drew to sell comics but I don't think thats the case.
 
Supergirl is a character I've never really got into so maybe I'll pick up the issue and check it out a bit.

MIchael Turner's art was always amazing Kara looks beautiful yet to me that pic looks slightly haunting maybe it's the moon and stars in the back.

As much as I like the covers Middleton has been doing on Supergirl this seems like a nice gesture.

I think This is a Huge Milestone for Kara, and from my AV you can tell how i feel about this piece. As far as Turner's art being used, I like the Idea, and the thought of it. His art Made Super girl look like a Superwoman, and it didn't place to much emphasis on her boobs. Heckz YEAH i'm picking it up!

It actually has a Middleton look to it, but I guess that's just the light & airy look to it too.

 Some very nice artwork. I do see it selling substantially more then it normally does (I know I will pick it up) due to the this cover. I also see it being a good way to pay tribute to an amazing comic artist and from what i have read and heard an amazing human-being. However, I do think that even though I am sure DC owns the rights to these images that they should take a portion of the extra profit and donate it, either to his mother or fiancee, or to a foundation/medical center dedicated to the research of bone cancer or the treatment and/or rehabilitation of bone cancer/cancer patients. I think this would be a remarkable thing for DC to do and would be much more of a tribute then just putting a smile on you and I's face.

RIP Michael Turner

1. I think Kara should always look this way.
2. I'm okay with Turner's art. 
3. If the the next issue is any good then i'll pick it up.

I started getting this title regularly 3-4 months ago. While the storyline hasn't been all I hoped for it has made me go back and check out the start of the series. Michael Turner's work will always be beautiful for me and, through Supergirl, got me onto Fathom and other work by the great man.  
 
Ploy or not, I'm just glad to see another Michael Turner Supergirl and I'll definitely be getting it. One of the best depictions of any character in the last five years, at least.

when i got back into comics after a fews off SUpergirl was on of the firsrt books i started to pick up. Three years on it still is one of the best.

I don't think that this is an issue/problem at all. Micheal Turner helped to re-introduce the character to the DCU, he's still a popular illustrator, even in death and I see it as a nice homage to him and the character of Supergirl.

Michael said he thought Supergirl was something that would last and that was what he was interested in. He wanted to make his mark. This is the longest running series starring Kara Zor-El as Supergirl (beating Adventure Comics starring Supergirl by a few issues) I think its only fit that his mark be on the book. He did it! and what is better is that he knew he had before he passed on. He re-created an icon with Jeph after a decade of mistreatment. People have forgotten how much this Kara is like the pre-crisis kara of the 'Daring New Adventures'

I read the Loeb/Turner run. I want to have that cover maybe it brings me back to the title.

Gorgeous art. Cept maybe the ears.......oh well HELL YES I'm picking this up Supergirl has gotten so much better lately. Plus it's nice they honored Micheal like this.
