I recently started to read the last volume of Supergirl. The penciler of the first issues is Ian Churchill. Am I idiot or is art is horrible? Please tell me he draws volontarily women as ugly.

I mean, what's the joke? Does Supergirl became the elastic woman? Have you seem the length of her arms and legs? More than that, she is so thin! Is she anorexic now?

Check this pic:

If Churchill draws that way intentionnaly, please explain to me his reasons. I read only 7 books so far and I really miss Linda Denvers.

Maybe he wants his Supergirl to look like the Michael Turner version.

What does his art have to do with making you miss Linda Danvers? I'm not making the connection?

Amen to that, the world is a poorer place without Michael Turner and his amazing skills.

I don't think the problem is her skinniness or arms/legs. I think her torso is just way too long.

i thought michael Turner was the one the had drawn that pic. The version of that pic that i have downloaded had his mark on it (Show above)

Turner was involved in some pretty great comics and the pictures he drew were beautiful, but c'mon everyone, be honest: all of his characters look the same.  It's like he used a template and then just switched out hair colors and slightly changed some jaw angles.  Look at how ridiculously similar Bruce and Kent look unmasked and notice how Witchblade and Lara and Kara and Diana are really, really, really similar.

And what's with the thong half way up Kara's waist?  If it were any higher, she could wear it around her shoulders.  I mean, really.

Michael was, in my opinion, the best comicbook artist in the buisness. I am practicaly obssesed with every peice he did. I didn't even get intrested in comics until around the time he died, and really hate the fact that I never got to meet him. And on top of his awesome art, Fathom is one of my favorite series ever.

This is my all-time favorite pic of kara and Mike drew it

@fred9101: Hey, thanks.  I think it's funny that so many people defend Turner after you pointed out the problem with Churchill is that he draws Supergirl on a nearly (if not past) anorexic level--clearly the pictures DEGRAFF posted by Turner have much the same problem, if not worse.  Look at the picture of Wonder Woman holding Supergirl. The poor thing is gaunt and her stomach looks concave and absurdly long.  How exactly is this even mildly healthy?  And of course, up goes the thong again.   Additionally, with respect to your elastagirl comment, look how long Kara's arms are in some of these pictures--I swear, they must hang down past her knees!

I have a lot of respect for Turner, so I don't want to come across as obnoxiously cynical, especially considering that he and his great artistry have passed on from this world; his art doesn't lack beauty--it lacks variety.  I've read the Supergirl comic that's been just recently made into an animation and I thought it was great, so no harm done, but I definitely wouldn't have minded if the characters maintained a little more physical identity.

While I do agree Turner's version of Supergirl is the best so far I think Churchill's rendition was appropriate for how the character had been depicted thus far. When Churchill took over as the artist it was not that long since the relaunch of the character so keeping the look of the character similar was
appropriate. The worst thing I think would be for a different artist to come in and completely change the look of the character just to be different.

I prefer her to look a little thin and undeveloped compared to the overly voluptuous look teenage characters are often given in comic books. She's like 17, she shouldn't have the same body as Wonder Woman or Power Girl.

I agree with this.  I didn't enjoy Churchill's art as much, but I'm assuming he was just trying to live up to the amazingness that is Michael Turner.  The cover that was posted earlier also included Michael Turner, after all.  Personally, I always thought this was way more awesome of a collab:
Jim Lee and Michael Turner.
