In my mind Supergirl is one of the biggest surprises to come out of the reboot.  Of course the character is quite popular and is a staple at DC but the series thus far has been doing well.  It is important to remember that the entire series to this point has taken place over what is maybe 60 minutes in real time (though there are flashbacks.)  When considering this it highlights just how good things are going in this series, despite its short time it has held my attention well over these issues....

Lonely GIrl Trapped On An Alien World Called Earth 3

The Good: Very nice cover. Even though the title fills it, there's still a fair amount of 'empty space.' Yes, it's Krypton exploding, but at the same time it's got a deep and haunting blankness to it that looks great, and evokes the feel that Supergirl is likely experiencing. There's some good very emotional scenes with Supergirl as she struggles to accept the truths she's been offered. The haunting wash of colors strongly emphasizes the strong emotions welling up inside her. While there are some...

    Supergirl 3

This story continues to be interesting as Supergirl vacillates between believing and disbelieving Superman. In this issue she essentially gets her own Lex Luthor. Some other rich, smart guy who hates Kryptonians. And can apparently tell off the US governmetn. It somewhat stretches the imagination that Lex and this guy wouldn't take each other out (because each wants to be the best), but maybe they end up teaming up.The story's still engaging and I'm still interested in seeing what happens....

    Superaverage 0

With issue 3, Supergirl seems to settle into formula writing already. We get about four pages more of Kara telling Kal, 'I don't believe you' before she sets off on her own to find the pod she arrived on Earth in.Upon returning to the crash site, she's almost immediately lured away and captured by a stock 'trillionaire' who has as many high tech anti-Supergirl devices at his beck and call as Luthor did in the Silver Age comics. Seriously, I was expecting robot dogs at any minute (but got robot b...

"You are not prepared for this world." 0

Synopsis: Refusing to believe that her home planet is destroyed, Kara searches for her ship to leave Earth. What's Good? Kara's still a bit stubborn. Instead of accepting that Krypton is destroyed and going with her cousin to come up with a reasonable plan, she decides to do things by herself. The story begins to shift into a new direction different from Supergirl's previous origins, as Kara gets her own version of Lex Luthor, Simon Tycho does a great job using this issue to have Kara test her p...

    Irrational Kara 0

Late review is late ^.^Art - The lines of this book are nothing to write hoe about and indeed are a little below average, but nothing so bad that it detracts from the book. The colors on the other hand are pretty bad and any fault the lines have is magnified by the poor coloring. The colorist is clearly not paying attention to what is implied by the lines but rather what he wants the lines to look likeStory - While there is nothing "wrong" with the story itself I find it a little... off. We star...

    Unnecessary Origin 0

Do we really need another Supergirl origin? I do understand the whole New 52 thing and there has been some amazing work done with the Bat books and to a large degree with Swamp Thing. Even Action Comics has some great points. But I did not like having to read, again, about Supergirl arriving, not knowing what's going on and now in this comic she doesn't believe Superman when he says the planet Krypton was destroyed. And then she ends up on a space station run by a bad guy. Shades of Lex ...

    A super remake 0

Like last chapter, this chapter continues to show that Supergirl is not a gullible moron who just takes what Superman says for granted, regardless of truth. She goes to check it out for herself, but gets intercepted...and seems to forget that she can fly....by a space guy who seems to be using the commercial idea of space travel, to make an antagonist. While he does seem to be evil, he's not doing a good job at it. The Brain was workable, but fire shooting butterflies are just lame.....Lame lame l...
