Review
Zero month came at an inconvenient time for some readers as a big cliff hanger was left for issue #12 two months ago. As great as the Zero issue was, it's refreshing to be back on track with Supergirl #13. Sami Basri's layout for this issue was amazing, allowing Mike Johnson's writing to unfold properly in the panels with it's slow pace. This was an issue that was tapping on Supergirl's emotions, especially with her finally knowing what happened to her race, and the art carried her responses well. Great detail and radiant colors reflected this issue's sensitivity properly. The setting and the objects were drawn really nicely too.
The New 52 is a new universe that allows every creative team to play around with their characters, and Johnson is handling Kara's increasing maturity and fortitude well, as we see her grow as the series progresses. Supergirl is starting to build her character and she's turning out to be a likeable character. The way she handled Tycho was very clever, proving that the Kryptons aren't just all strength as they shouldn't be. Also, her interaction with the artificial intelligence in the sanctuary was a nice touch, teasing how spunky Kara can really be.
A very detailed art and the emotional storyline for this issue makes Supergirl #13 a good read which will be worth your time. Also, we're heading in to H'el on Earth soon, a Super crossover that should rock the DC Universe, so this is a good time to get on the bandwagon. 4.5/5 stars.
