    House of El

Over the course of the entire series thus far, I think that this issue stands out as one of the best.  There is not a whole lot of action in this story, but that actually is what makes it that much better, as for the first time in the series the writer takes a step back and looks at the characters.  The story here is a familiar one to readers of the Superman related titles as it mostly just incorporates in the usual story of the explosion of Krypton.  This offers a bit more developments along these lines though as it shows the House of El divided along the lines of their scientific progress.  This leads to some genetic modifications of which Kara has already witnessed and fought.  Underlying it all is somewhat of a moral dilemma often seen in both science and families, of what is the best thing to do.  The "explosion of Krypton" story has almost always been mostly Superman's but here it becomes Kara's as well.

Krypton and Supergirl's past are revealed!PlusSlow claps for both Michael Green and Mike Johnson for their take on Supergirl's Zero Issue. The dialogue was perfect in carrying the heavy emotions of the characters in this issue. Centered on Zor-El, the writers couldn't have picked a better character as their primary focus. The plot was simple and easy to grasp, the pace was spot on, and it's artistic t...
