    Turn the beat a POW

Wow, when I first started to read this book I thought it would be another brooding old fashioned, "What am I", type of book. I was ready to let this be my last issue, but that was before I cracked the cover. What I found was a fun, understandable and almost relate-able Superboy. His inner naration is fascinating, he is like an autistic child he doesn't understand the world around him and from that confusion leads to his own discovery. He is written like you think he would be written, an ignorant and innocent child, downright gullible. It's hinted that there is more to this Superlad than there was to the last. He has wonder and expression the world is shiny and new. The side characters are all third dimensional and just as troubled as him. Even implied that they have about as much control over their destinies as our hero. The inclusion of Mr. Staby Mc'Daddy issues (Rose Wilson) makes this book a fascinating read. The downsides are that the Pinocchio story about how he wants to be a real boy seems over hashed. Also, the Tactile Telekinisis seems very powerful for a newborn clone. I don't know why but as he used it it made me feel a little uneasy. I'm also unable to follow that last fight. I have no idea what happened to our main villain, I think we are supposed to know as much as the narrator/Cloner Kent but it is still very unclear on how they finished the fight.

    The Good:

Very funny book, the humor is not overplayed. We finally get to see our main hero stretch his legs. The art is also wonderful , I love how his powers are drawn to almost have a sort of magical glowing affect. It really gives them a textural feel.

    The Bad:

Again there are bits I still have to question. Halfway through the book one of the characters jumps out of a helicopter and I have no idea what happened to her. I had to check back a few times to make sure that the couple at the start weren't the couple half way through and I find that a little misleading.

    Buy it:

Yes, I think that this is one of those issues that even if it isn't on your pull list it's one of those issues you need to know who the character is his heart.

The Good: Thank the stars they got a MUCH better cover artist. And Shane Davis is no stranger to drawing the Supers. His work on Superman: Earth One was pretty solid, and he keeps it up here. The House of El crest is placed front and center, even upside-down, its very iconic, and things are thrown on their head on the links between Superboy and Superman in this issue. Superboy's pained expressions is intense, and the positioning of everything is just excellent. The juxtaposition in the first sce...

      Miss. WHO? 0

Superboy #1 and #2 have been good but with an amount of flaw. Superboy #3 has really changed my opinion of the series as a whole.  THE GOOD: The art is very clean and I think that it is okay. The story is the really good part of this. I really like seeing Superboy wondering how to work his powers. his inner dialog is well written and I really think that Superboy is going to be a interesting character to read every month. I was really happy when I say who "Red" was. I think that having her join t...
