There have been a lot of rumors surrounding the Suicide Squad movie and who will possibly be in it. Well, it looks like the Hollywood Reporter now has the official news about who's involved and what roles they landed! According to the site, Will Smith is Deadshot, Tom Hardy'sRick Flag, Margot Robbie is Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto is Joker! Also confirmed is Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.

Greg Silverman, WB's President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production, obviously had nothing but love for the project. "David Ayer returns to the studio where he wrote Training Day and brings his incredible ability to craft multidimensional villains to this iconic DC property with a cast of longtime Warner collaborators Will Smith and Tom Hardy, and other new and returning favorites: Margot, Jared, Jai and Cara." The executive also said this movie will "give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero."

As for Amanda Waller, Variety claims they know WB's shortlist of actresses being considered for the role. According to the site, it's Oprah Winfrey, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.

David Ayer is directing and writing Suicide Squad. The movie currently has a release date of August 5, 2016.

Hmm, Leto might make an interesting Joker. I care nothing about these characters.

Would've liked Hardy as Deadshot tbh but Will Smith's presence almost guarantees that the movie gets solid box office returns (which is what WB wants, right?).

I can see Hardy as Rick Flag but the rest doesn't fill me with confidence. I could be wrong and they may do a great job but I can't help but be nervous.

except for robie and the CHARACTER of Enchantress its like whatever to me. flagg is boring, though i knew will would be deadshot cause with his ego how could he not be, would have preferred hardy as deadshot and will as black spider or manta. dont get why they are mixing old with new for this team so will just wait and see what they can pull off. good luck to all involved

But Enchantress was in Ostrander's Suicide Squad run. It's not like they picked her just to spite Thor.

I don't read Marvel, so this means little to me.

Even if I did, this would mean little to me until I knew of the character.

I remember when Suicide Squad first started. As a kid, the title scared me. It was just too heavy. I thought I would get in trouble with my mom if I bought it and she noticed. But I was fascinated by the book. That first cover was intense.

It really is a great comic. The concept is really heavy. It's one of those teams that is much greater, together, than the characters are individually. And Amanda Waller is one of the best characters comics has ever come up with.

I'm excited about this, but I think it's weird that DC has put so much work into building up to the Suicide Squad on Arrow and yet they are going to take it in a whole different direction in film. Weird. It's like they are on parallel but non intersecting trajectories.

Will Smith as Deadshot is a surprise. Nice to see Hardy in there as well.

@spidey_jackson: Ostrander's run is the most well received, it's obvious they're taking notes from it. So they would use a character that appeared in it.

@scouterv: The Enchantress? One of Thor's greatest foes? Was a member of one of the earliest incarnations of the master of evil? She's currently playing huge role in AXIS.

She is basically Thor's Catwoman.

I didn't know I needed Oprah as Amanda Waller in my life until just now.

I think this movie is being stuffed with big name actors because WB knows that otherwise it simply wouldn't garner the attention this early in their fledgling cinematic universe.

Guardians of The Galaxy was able to use lesser known stars because of the confidence Disney/Marvel built up in their fans.

I guess Deadshots race isn't really important to his character, but I'm still thrown a little off by that

To be fair Shyamalan can undo any star power he has. Will Smith is one of the highest grossing actors in hollywood love or hate him.

Not inspired with confidence by Harley or Joker's casting, but I could be biased, as I was hoping that they wouldn't be in the movie at all. Hoping Tom Hardy and Will Smith can carry the film.

Come on guys....... you're seriously gonna complain about this????? I'm not saying it's going to be the best movie ever but you gotta admit this cast is filled with GREAT actors in general. We don't know anything about how the film will turn out, but at least keep an open mind with the casting. I mean come on... Will Smith! Whether you like him for deadshot or not, he's an OUTSTANDING actor! And so is the rest. The Joker casting could not be more perfect and I have full confidence that Leto can pick up Ledger's legacy. If you don't think so, go watch Dallas Buyers Club right now

I have an open mind when it comes to casting in comic book movies, but why can't they cast actors who actually RESEMBLE the character! First there's Ezra for the Flash who looks nothing like Barry Allen. Now Will Smith as Deadshot? Wha??!! And no it's not a race thing. The only good casting I see here is Robbie as Harley and Oprah as Waller (if that's true)... cause ya know... they actually RESEMBLE the characters they're going to portray! Marvel does this...gee go figure who's dominating the superhero box office.

I can just image Oprah as Waller now..

Seriously though I would have rather had Hardy play Deadshot but I think all the castings ended up being solid in the end. Really love the Leto and Robbie for Joker and Harley.

But it feels like they used Enchantress just to get ahead of Thor having Enchantress on Ragnarok.
