razzatazz's Suicide Squad #26 - Stone Cold Dead review

    Clock is ticking

This story is tiold in the past tense in the form of a letter to Eve.  Rick admits his failures and in order to atone for his actions in Washington he has traveled to Jotunheim to destroy it.  Most of the issue takes the form of of Rick either infiltrating the fortress or fighting Rustam.  Unbeknownst to Rustam though Flag has a surpirse and will finally live up to the "Suicide" part of the name of the team.  In terms of a heroic sacrifice this issue fell a little short at times as it seemed a little anti-climactic for a the method of death for a hero as well established as he is.  It also puts an end to the sometimes over done theme of "carry on for me" which has been one of the hallmarks of Ostrander's run thus far on this volume.  Overall though it is still a well told tale and one which although not necessarily fun has a lot of good elements in it.  The need for honour of one individual and the emotional impact on another stand out.
