The origin of the mutant known as Sugar Man is shrouded in mystery. When Legion changed the past accidentally creating the Age of Apocalypse with mutants ruling North America, Sugar Man was a student of that world's version of Mister Sinister and eventually he would go on his own to become master in genetics setting his base on Niagara Falls. There he regularly tortured others and performed inhuman experiments on them, and later it was revealed that he molested children ensalved in pens.

Sugar Man is one of the few original survivors of the Age of Apocalypse. He has been stuck in the 616 universe for some time but has somehow wound up back in the Age of Apocalypse as seen in Age of Apocalypse. Throughout all this time he has remained as vile as ever.

Generation Next: Age of Apocalypse
Later Apocalypse would require his help in the human working camps in the Pacific Northwest in facility known as the Seattle Core. When Magneto needed a time traveler he sought the aid of someone who knew about the world before it was and discovered Illyana Rasputin who would one day gain the power to use stepping disc and travel through time. She was however incarcerated within the Core because she yet to manifest any mutant powers. Quickly learning that his sister was still alive Colossus and his team Generation Next went to the Core in order to save her.
However Sugar Man and the Core defenses prove more than a match. Leaving as a result the death of all students of Colossus and Shadowcat, during the confrontation seemed that Colossus had destroyed Sugar Man, but using his mutant abilities managed to reincorporate and fleed.
Into a Different World
A shrunken Sugar Man later managed to enter M´kraan Crystal during the final battle that seemingly ended the Age of Apocalypse. He was transported to the 616 (Main) Marvel Universe where he became a menace to society once more, but on a lesser scale. Soon, nothing was heard from Sugar Man again as he faded into obscurity.

After H.A.M.M.E.R.'s fall, Sugar Man went into hiding at in New York. There he set up his lab,using Nate Grey to power the Omega Machine. By doing so he opened portals at random in an attempt to find his home reality. After opening a portal Sugar Man would have one of his recently artificially enhanced ex-mutants to take the first step to test it out. The New Mutants discover his hideout and attack, Dani Moonstar takes him on in hand to hand combat though Sugar Man stays every bit as sharp. Sugar Man gets one last portal attempt which happens to be Age of Apocalypse and attempts to flee. Dani fires and arrow into his tongue, pinning him to the current 616 reality. Sugar Man is taken into custody.
Aside from his already above intellect in the fields of genetics Sugar Man is capable fighter himself showing incredible tenancy when he fought several mutants. Equip with four arms Sugar Man can make use of each limb normally utilizing axes or hammers, along with impossible razor sharp tongue that can even damage non-physical objects. He was also shown that when damaged his body becomes smaller to the point that he is near micro size allowing him quick get-away or even hitch a ride without anyone knowing. He shown to have above average strength and capable of smelling fear and other foreign chemicals.
X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse
He appears as final boss in Core Stage, he uses his tongue and several melee weapons as hammers and axes. He is one of the hardest bosses in game due to his huge physical power, nevertheless his weakness is ranged attacks. Also he is the only character in game that refers to Age of Apocalypse reality directly and expresses his admiration for Apocalypse and his attempts to conquer world.
