Deep Thoughts
For centuries now, mankind has wondered over the existence of the fabled Atlantis. When a research submarine down and the last transmission received from it is, "I... I think I see it. It's... it's beautiful, I...", the powers that be track down the world's lead debunker of myths and legends, Doctor Stein (they never say his first name).
As far as the story goes I really liked it. I was hooked the whole way through. I like how they Namor was turned into something almost like a superstition. He's almost like a movie monster, you don't see him, but you know that he's there. There were also a few downsides to the story. They never tell you what year it is. They do refer to past events in the 30's and the 50's, but they never tell you what year it's supposed to be in the present sense of this story. This has to be completely out of canon because in the normal marvel universe, Namor was already an established hero and public figure in the 40's during World War 2. I also don't like how they never tell you the main character's first name. I mean, c'mon, he's the main character and you overlook the fact that you're not telling us his first name? Amateurish.
The art was ok, everything seemed a bit too on the light side for me, though. It seemed like it was painted, but almost when the paints dried they lightened at the same time and this was the result. Not to say that's what happened or that I know anything about art, but that's just how I feel.
