    Overview:

Atlantis. Throughout the ages, a few men have wondered if this fabulous place actually exists. Fewer have imagined that the city is protected by a wild and vengeful being, the very embodiment of the untameable depths themselves -- the Sub-Mariner. When a deep sea expedition mysteriously vanishes without a trace near the Marianes trench, legendary adventurer, Randolph Stein embarks on a journey that will rock him -- and his crew -- to their very core. Travelling deep into the dark belly of the sea, the men of the good ship, Voyager, are about to see things that defy description, that supersede their wildest imagination -- things that men aren’t meant to see. Staring into the abyss, Stein will soon discover that the abyss can indeed stare right back at him.

Note: Namor does not appear in this issue!

    Sub Mariner 0

Truth be told  I never held Sub Mariner in high regard. I was always more of an Aquaman guy. This story changed all that. The art is what should hook you in right off the bat. Ribic's work here is awesome. He makes this a very moody story that demands your attention. I love his work on Silver Surfer - Requiem but, this might be even better. As for the story , it's quite different than any other comic I've read in a while. It feels more like a horror/thriller wrapped around Sub Mariner mytholog...

    A beautiful book 0

Namor is a tricky character to write.  Often he's written either extremely arrogant (which in a way, he should be) or simply boring.  What's good about these Marvel Knights book is they are set almost in the 'real world.'  Searching for Atlantis would be a mysterious expedition.  In the Marvel Universe, where superheroes are all over the place, the idea of Atlantis wouldn't be too absurd.  It's almost like it would just be accepted and there wouldn't be too much thought given to it.  In the worl...

    Deep Thoughts 0

For centuries now, mankind has wondered over the existence of the fabled Atlantis.  When a research submarine down and the last transmission received from it is, "I... I think I see it.  It's... it's beautiful, I...", the powers that be track down the world's lead debunker of myths and legends, Doctor Stein (they never say his first name). As far as the story goes I really liked it.  I was hooked the whole way through.  I like how they Namor was turned into something almost like a superstition. ...
