New Writer = Meh
Like I state in most of my reviews, I am a new reader to DC. What little I know about Stormwatch Pre-New 52 is that it used to belong under a different DC imprint, either Wildstorm or Vertigo, but I don't remember which. So I realize this team has been merged into the mainstream DC Universe. With that being said, I find my interest waning every month.
The Good
Jack Hawksmoor. This character is easily my favorite on Stormwatch. The basis for his ability to communicate with the cities of the world is fascinating and the way they portray this in the comic books is the most interesting thing about them.
The Bad
I'm just not digging the character and story development in this book. I was enjoying the Midnighter in the previous arc, but in this comic book he was mostly just background noise. The dialogue between Martian Manhunter and Jenny is contrived and laden with physics babble that I don't understand nor care to. And the engineer sounds like a love forlorn teenager. The story is oddly paced, and it feels forced to include everyone they can. Even Jack Hawksmoor, though I love his scene, doesn't contribute anything to the main story.
Another thing I feel is off is the art. Some frames seem just down right bad and I can never tell how old Jenny is supposed to be portrayed.
Overall, I'm giving the book a 2.5/5. Here's hoping the new creative team finds their groove so I don't have to drop this title from my list.
