I had been creating names already for my future children, but only made one name if it's going to be a girl. I want boys but I was thinking what if I will have a lot of girls, what would I name them. I thought to myself and I said, why not name one as Ororo? I think it would be cool. So defiinitely if I'll get a female baby, I'll insist my future wife to name her Ororo. : )

I'll see first if the woman I'm going to marry would have a nice and catchy "merged" name that doesn't sound too stupid which may be unlikely, then I look at the names that mean something to me (inspired me to some extent), then I look at somewhat unique names I could possibly go with, then from fictional works were normal names are hardly used (like Game of Thrones), if I still couldn't find a name I'll probably go with fictional characters where standard naming processes work. If worst comes to worst I'll name them after a really really common name.

At least that's my hierarchy of naming.

I wouldn't do it, just seems wrong to me to name a child after my favorite comic book character, and Storm is not my favorite but she's cool.

Anyway, to the topic at hand. It's fine to give your child a ridiculous name like Ororo but you have to teach her how to fight and debate. really, really well. School is already hard enough for kids to get through as is. She won't stand a chance unless you teach her how to handle herself.

I love Storm as a character, but the problem with her name is that it's exclusively associated with a comic book character. It's never good to name you child after a character associated with geekdom. It's like naming your son Anakin. It's like painting the word geek on your kids forehead. If she grows up really cool and socially apt she might be able to pull it off, but I wouldn't chance it. I'd use something less obvious.

• For example, River (River Tam) played by Summer Galu after the character in the show Firefly

In the end the point is you don't want to pick anything to obvious like Ororo whose a pretty popular character. It's a beautiful name but too well known and too exclusive to Storm. Instead you should chose something unique that's more obscure .

I wouldn't but it isn't that bad of an idea. Thor is an awesome name though, If I lived or eventually live or marry someone from the north, I might just name my kid that, otherwise, no. but it's an awesome powerful name.

I really have no idea what names Id give my kids, I dont give much importance to names (maybe because I always forget them?)

I dunno. Ororo is a little hard to say, and it's iconic to Storm so people are gonna know who they're named after. It's not like "Jean" or "Emma" or even "Logan." You may as well name your daughter "Storm".

That said, I've found that you get more wiggle room with girls names than with boys names. At least in the midwest. A slightly unusual girls name is considered 'unique', but unusual boys names are considered 'weird'. I couldn't even get away with Parker, which my wife thought was too 'pretentious', even thought I have actually known a few Parkers.

And no, I would never name my daughter Ororo, because that would be excessive for my comic book fandom. My family already thinks I'm comic book crazy, and I would personally like to stay out of the mental institution

Good luck finding a woman who will go along with that, that's like a woman going along with a wedding themed after your favorite football team. I love Storm but is that even a real name or one they made up?
