Steve Ditko is an American comic book artist and comic book writer. He is best known as the co-creator of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.
Steve Ditko began his career as an artist at Marvel Comics. His best known work is on The Amazing Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. He co-created these characters with Stan Lee. He also worked on many different stories such as Amazing Fantasy (where the introduced Spider-Man), Tales to Astonish, and Tales of Suspense.
Ditko left Marvel comics and went on to Charlton and later to DC comics in 1968. During this time he worked on characters such as Blue Beetle, Creeper, Captain Atom, and the Question. He co-created Hawk and Dove, and created The Creeper and Shade the Changing Man for DC.
Steve Ditko strongly believes in Ayn Rand's Objectivism, and this personal ideology is prevalent in the writings of his latter work. Objectivism inspired his work on Mr. A, a character that believes that there is only right and wrong and nothing in between.
Overall he is a comic book legend because of Spider-Man and well known for his clean art style and quirky action shots. He was inducted into the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1990.
