Why is Static so underrated in the battle forums? What is it about Static that compels so many people to dismiss him as legitimate threat? It's like almost every battle he is in on this site, people say he would lose even against nearly obscure characters with one or two basic powers at most. They seem to have this idea that he's a walking pis machine that doesn't prep or anything.

That's probably because of the superficial knowledge of his powers they got from his own cartoon and Young Justice. If they read some of his old milestone comics they'll see he's a hell of a lot more powerful than they give him credit for.

I'll go as far to say that in this situation, static has the same problem among comic book readers as Aquaman does among mainstream audiences due to a misunderstanding about how their powers actually work.

Static is extremely powerful he high tiered.

Are you kidding me? Static is a rather high level character for his tier, whatever that is. He has a more than respectable combination of creativity, scientific knowledge, savvy to beat his own weakness, versatility, and raw power. The only way I can think someone would write him off as weak is if they just think him some guy who can shoot electricity.

@blackwind: Well, that's usually how it goes. Don't let anybody have any kind of speed because the first thing people say is that they could just speed blitz him. He's beaten guys with supersonic speed, and stopped multiple bullets in midair. The sad part about the weak argument is that he has never been established to have a cap on his powers.
