Virgil Hawkins was exposed to a mutagenic gas that swept his city of Dakota, which gave him and other 'bang babies" superpowers. With the ability to control electromagnetism, Static joined the Teen Titans and continues to protect his city while serving on the team.
I just wish they could've given Static more of a chance. I am sick of DC shoving out some of the same stories and the same characters over and over again. How many times is character X going to face off against character Y to save character Z? And HOW MANY BOOKS does Batman need to have before DC says "enough"?
The fact that they canceled this series along with OMAC in favor of another Batman comic is infuriating to me (although I do like the creative team behind the book). I honestly do not believe that DC has done all they could have done to keep Static and company in the new continuity. These comic publishers need to know that in order to gain readership, they need to stop catering to the same people over and over again. As well, they need to ADVERTISE outside the comic books and obscure websites.
