    Static Shock #2 - Disarmed by the_mighty_monarch on October 05, 2011

    The Good: I was iffy on his new board at first, but oh my god is the new one now infinitely cooler. There's so many new possibilities explored in this issue with Static's new mode of transportation, and I am in love with it. This issue pays MUCH more respect to the original series, tying Static's regular life into his superhero career, equally prioritizing the two, and that's definitely ESSENTIAL for Static Shock. That cover is seriously awesome, almost makes me want Chris Brunner on the interio...

    Static Shock #2 - Disarmed by durakken on October 06, 2011

    Static last month was promising, but this month it took a dip into the bland and below average.#1's art was decent, had some good panels. #2 is almost like a degraded version of that. everything is just a step beneath where it was.The story progresses, but everything is fairly predictable outside of things that you think you know or should know but we weren't privy to those adventures...Static needs to discuss life and we learn that Gear, his partner from the animated series is no longer extant....

    I feel sorry for the bad pun already. Anyway, on to the review.The Good: Static Shock has a lot of good things going for it. For one, the writing in this issue was absolutely fantastic; John Rozum is leaving in style. Static's inner monologue is excellent, conveying tons of information about the page and exhibiting tons of character. This is good because Static talks at length and often.     Synopsis: Static continues to take on the Slate Gang and their new associate, Virule. What's Good? I like the idea of Static's powers evolving just because he's still young. He has potential to be just as strong as Black Lighting (who I wonder still exist in this new universe). It's also nice to know that the Scott McDaniel and John Rozum touch on more on Virgil's life in school a little.
