Okay, I'll admit to being old school. I'll blame Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and Year One, along with Alan Moore's The Killing Joke, and pretty much anything and everything that Dennis O'Neil has done in Gotham City since 1985. I don't deny that it's been landmark, groundbreaking, defining stuff that has both re-invented and re-imagined The Batman and his place in the DCU.
