I wondered who that was running around on the rooftops of Opal during Sins of the Father. Now I know. Wonder what's goin' on there...
Not exactly sure I'd have Howdy Doody and the Slinky display where they are, all things considered...if you know what I mean, and I think you do. And, then - Ow, I hate it when that happens.
And then - boom - another shot from, Charity! And then Sadie - bam. Jack sure is getting whiplash! Ouch!
Who wouldn't want to see James Robinson take on a Star-Spangled Kid story? There was just something wrong about killing him off.
There is just something very smooth about the Tales of Times Past, Talking With David and various Day In The Life issues. Nice segue between from one adventure to another. It's a shame that DC hasn't really learned much of anything from the model that James Robinson developed. Otherwise, we wouldn't be hurtling headlong from Identity Crisis to Infinite Crisis to 52 to Countdown to Final Crisis to Trinity to Blackest Night. It's like someone hit the "Fast Forward" button and forgot to go back and hit "Play".
This issue is proof that there can be an issue that bridges between action. The illusion of downtime, and yet other characters are in action. *Ah*, imagine that!
The best part of the issue is not just what happens in twenty-two pages, but the excerpt from The Shade's journal. That right there is worthy the cover price. A shame those aren't collected somewhere - unless in the Omnibus.
