Formerly warrior Princess Koriand'r of the now-destroyed planet Tamaran, Starfire found a new home on Earth and a new family in the Teen Titans. She was once romantically involved with Dick Grayson, and often dealt with hostilities from her older sister Blackfire. Starfire has also served with many other teams such as the Outsiders, Justice League, R.E.B.E.L.S. and Jason Todd's Outlaws.
One of the things I find interesting is how people talk about how Starfire has been here for 30 years and should understand earth culture. It’s a comic; the characters either don’t age… or age super slowly. Dick Grayson has been around since 1940. At the time of his introduction he was roughly 13, by the time of New Teen Titans Dick had graduated from college so he’s in early 20’s around the time when he meets Kory. So we’re probably at the point where Dick is probably in his late 20’s, so we are probably looking at Starfire probably being on earth 8 maybe 10 years, which is a significant period of time, but a far cry from the 30 years her character has around.
Yes she should understand earth culture by now, but I have looked at it as an act. That Kory is playing the “ditzy blonde” so that people will under estimate her. But that’s just my take on it.
Please don’t take this as me trying to flame someone or slam someone, I made the same argument with X-men fans regarding how Scott could hook up with Madelyn Pryor so quickly after being involved with Jean for 20 odd years. I understand its 20 or 30 years out of our lives. 20 or 30 years of our emotional investment in the characters.
For me, I’d love to see Dick and Babs together. I liked him and Starfire together and if he winds up with Kory I’m fine with that.
New Titans is a better comic series than anything with Babs and Dick together. The best stories ever told with Nightwing in a relationship were with Starfire. This is how it has been for nearly 30 years and this is how it will probably be for a long time to come. Get over it, Batgirl fans.
It doesn't seem as though he knew he had a 'choice.' Wasn't the it the case that he liked Barbara, and told her so, but she rejected him? Then after a LONG LONG time, she FINALLY realizes she likes him and goes to tell him? Of course, it's an old story and an old plot device used to keep readers hooked..

@The Stegman: What ?! That doesn't make any sense, you don't sleep with someone and then give her the invitation to your wedding ! Not saying that you physically can't, but it's just absurd.
I'm laughing at this because it reminds me of something that happened to me a long long time ago... First, I had a conversation with a friend of mine who said that when a woman you've dated and broken up with, gets engaged, she'll call you and tell you. Even if you haven't spoken to her in years. I laughed at that, but had never had the experience. He said, "I'll get a call from an old girl friend that I haven't spoken to in years, she'll say hi, and then she'll say, "Guess what?" I'll replay, "You're getting married." She'll say, "How did you know?" "
About a year after that conversation, I got a call from a gal that I only dated a couple of times.... Out of the blue.... and she says, "Guess what? I'm getting married!"
LOL!!!!! So, I think, if you're a woman that has slept with a man who broke up with you, of if he just broke your heart in some way, she MIGHT actually want to invite you to the wedding. But even if she doesn't, she will likely call you and tell you that it's going to happen...
OH, and regarding your question about whether or not anything was going on between Nightwing and Babs, the answer is no... He had been in love with her, and wanted to be with her, but she rejected him....
Gah! I seriously hate when people say Kory's a "slut". There is a difference between dressing like one and being one. She's only slept with like two guys in the entire DC universe (unless Im missing some, which is totally possible). Yes, her outfit is tiny, but it's been pretty stressed that her Tamaranean heritage imbued in her a strong dislike of "Earth prudishness". The planet she grew up on didn't care about citizens wearing skimpy outfits, and yes she's been on Earth for a while, but I think it's safe to say that she doesn't care about what other people think of her outfit.

If you're writing about the scene in the most recent version of the Titans, then you're wrong.
They were already in a sexual relationship. She asked him if he was in love with her, and he said that he loved her but that he was no longer "in love" with her, so she left him.
in the end both had chances to get with him but something always came in the way, he has proposed to both in the past so it not like babs never had chance against her and kory is alien, her veiwpoints on sex or nudity are different and technacclly i never bleame the character when it comes to things like sleeping around, i just blame the writer ;)

Of course, you wouldn't be obligated to wear burqas, (except in some situations) they're not part of your culture, but you'd dress up in a different way for a matter of respect and also to protect yourself from misunderstandings and so on. IT'S THE SAME SITUATION WITH STARFIRE! I'm not even complaining about the purple thing she wears as an uniform (well, it's tiny but I can assume it's an uniform meant to be sexy, as many of super heroines' costumes are ¬¬) but it wouldn't kill her to make an effort to, at least, wearing a dress or sth! Especially when she's on a planet where most people don't want her arround!!! And wasn't she member of a race of warrior? Who the hell fights in those clothes?!

A man ripping a woman's top off doesn't make her a slut any more than a woman punching a man in the face makes him a wife beater. Lobo was acting like an ass. And, in the story, she seemed to have been taken by surprise, but instead of flouncing back to the ship, in a quivering mass of tears, she's like, "Hey, I came out to talk to you about working with my team.".
As to the Jay/Kori kiss, I didn't understand it myself. She already knew english. It didn't make sense. My thoughts are that Scott Lobdell needed to sex up the story. I have no respect for him.

I was trying to point out that you're basing Starfire being a slut on what Lobo did, and not on what, if anything, Starfire did. Not blowing someone else up doesn't make one a slut

None that I know of. Can you site some examples. We don't know that her culture is promiscuous. The only people we have seen have been in monogamous relationships. Starfire. Her parents. Her husbands. And you seem to have wrongly paraphrased Kory. She said that her people are taught to love everyone, "always emotionally, sometimes physically." In other words, physically loving more than one person was not the norm in that culture.

I just think it's hypocrytical of you to call Starfire promiscuios (when she clearly isn't, outside of DCnU), when Roy and Jason have a far more sexually liberal past.
