Starfire
Starfire is a comic book character that first appeared in The New Teen Titans #1A princess of the destroyed planet Tamaran, Starfire has found a new home on Earth, and a new family in the Titans.
Tamaran
Koriand'r is the second of three children born to the royal family of Tamaran. Her elder sister Komand'r (later known as Blackfire) was deemed unworthy of ascension to the throne because she lacked the ability to fly and the subjects of Tamaran hated her for not being a worthy princess. So Koriand'r was given all of Komand'r's privileges, honors, and dignity eventually becoming the first princess of Tamaran in 100 years. Both sisters were sent to train with the Warlords of Okaara and it was here that the bitter Komand'r tried to take revenge on her sister by killing her. Komand'r failed and was expelled by the Warlords. Komand'r then joined the Citadel and quickly rose through the ranks. After she had some power over the Citadel she betrayed Tamaran to the Citadel.
The Citadel used the information the treacherous Blackfire gave them to successfully invade Tamaran. Defeated, King Myand'r turned his daughter, Koriand'r, over to them in return for peace. Koriand'r would never be allowed to return to Tamaran or the Citadel would destroy the planet. She endured six years of horrific torture and servitude to her sister who had become a high ranking warrior of the Citadel. Koriand'r was raped by members of the Citadel that were under the command of Blackfire. In retaliation, Starfire killed the rapists, but was sentenced to death. Komand'r was to have her executed but before this could occur both sisters were captured by the Psions, who were a race of sadistic scientist. Hereafter the sister were forced to be the subjects of cruel experiments. These experiments consisted of the Psions using the Tamaraneans natural ability of constantly absorbing solar energy and trying to see how much energy they could hold within their bodies before they would explode from the excess energy. Koriandr's signature "Starbolts" were a result of these experiments. She eventually escaped by using her new found starbolts and freed her sister. When Komand'r was freed she struck down Koriand'r with the starbolts that she too had developed. Because Komand'r had been exposed to the experimental energy longer than Koriand'r, her starbolts were stronger (she also gained the ability to fly), and she was therefore able to strike down her sister. However, Koriand'r escaped by seducing one of the guards and fled using one of Psions own vessels. She arrived on Earth were she met the Teen Titans.
Teen Titans
Earth was completely alien to the princess, but she was able to learn English by kissing Robin ( Dick Grayson) which ignited a romance between the two of them. A romance which would eventually help him grow as a person and help him with carve out his own identity away from his mentor. She took the name Starfire and fought alongside the Titans on many missions as well as serving as a mentor to newer members. After the destruction of Tamaran, along with her parents and many of her people, by the Sun-Eater; Starfire realized that Earth was her true home. She decided to live on Themyscira with the Amazons.
Romance
Starfire is attractive even by superhero standards, which along with her no-nonsense attitude and Tamaranean's joy-seeking culture has led her into a number of romances. She has been married twice, both times to Tamaranean men: once to the prince Karras to seal a peace treaty, and once to General Phy'zzon out of duty. Both men died in battle. She nearly married Dick Grayson, to much anti-alien sentiment, at the time. Their wedding was interrupted by Raven, who had gone evil at the time. Raven murdered the priest before he could finish the ceremony. Their already unstable relationship, both Kory and Dick decided it best that their relationship come to a close. Although it is apparent that they still hold a torch for each other whenever they see one another.
Outsiders
At the behest of Jade, Kory joined the Outsiders, during a time when the entire team thought Nightwing was unstable and cared very little for his teammates. All this in part to what happened to Thunder after one of their missions, and Nightwing's casual attitude towards it. She remained with the team during several important arcs. Including the arc that saw Indigo turn into a homicidal android, bent on destroying the Titans and the Outsiders due to her heritage of being an "offspring" of Brainiac's from the future. As always Kory showed her warriors spirit during those encounters, and unleashed one of her most powerful attacks, which truly made her as powerful as a star, and brought everything to a close during that conflict. In the weeks that passed, she found herself reconnecting with Dick on an intimate level, on at least one occasion and she rejoined the team.
Shortly after the events of Indigo, Donna Troy came back to life and sought out Starfire, Jade, Shift, and any others who could survive the vacuum of space to help in the problems that were coming from the center of space,. Due in part, to Superboy Prime shifting the positions of the planets from that section. Starfire agreed to come along. This was one of the tie-ins of what the event that would become Infinite Crisis.
It was during this time that Koriand'r came in contact once again with her sister Komand'r. Up until that time, she believed her sister had perished from an earlier encounter. Posing as the Goddess X'hal, Komand'r channeled her new found powers (which included flight) to trick her sister into finding her. Kory, believing that the Goddess had truly shown herself went off to find this supposed deity only to find herself in quite a predicament.
Once there, Komand'r attacked her sister in surprise and Kory was captured along with her companions. Her goal was to extract Kory's powers with a special machine and re-channel it to use it as her own and permanently give herself the power of flight, as well as endow her other powers further. Kory, and the others eventually overcame Komand'r, after a battle in space which soon saw the destruction of her sister's vessel and the supposed demise of the Tamaranean Princess, Komand'r.

After the events of Infinite Crisis, Starfire, Animal Man, and Adam Strange became a trio of space explorer's after the Zeta beam transported them to an unknown location in space. On one of their journeys, she found herself stranded on a strange planet with Animal Man and Adam Strange. They have since visited many places, during their travels they encountered Lobo who agreed to help them after an encounter with Devilance. Eventually Lobo took them to a planet where he was ruling under the ruse of becoming a benevolent ruler who had found religion.
And further still, they were chased by Lady Styx after an encounter where it seemed that Animal Man had perished. They barely escaped from the encounter. Starfire was injured, but managed to escape alongside Adam Strange. They found their ship badly damaged, to the point where it almost crash landed on the sentient planet/ Green Lantern Mogo, if it weren't for Mogo and his partner who managed to save their ship in time. Eventually she made it back to Earth, where she traveled to the home of Buddy to present his family with his jacket, and to tell them the unfortunate news of his demise. To her surprise, however, she finds that he is still alive. Upon the shock of seeing a still alive Animal Man and she subsequently faints.
Powers
Starfire is very strong despite her modest looks. She can easily out muscle Cyborg and can bench press about 50 tons. In the original promos of her appearance it was said that she "has the strength of 8 men."
She possesses berserker, superhuman strength granting invulnerability and immunity to many forms of damage. She is capable of flight and has enhanced physical attributes. She has been able to mentally or psionically learn languages such as English or Japanese through physical contact allowing her to communicate in it with ease being omni-lingual. When she first arrived to Earth she learned English by kissing Robin, an encounter that gave fruit to their romance.
Starfire can generate energy blasts and release them out of her hands or eyes (after transformation). These "Star Bolts" are very powerful and can even break through a wall of concrete. She gained these abilities during the experiments she was forced to endure by the Psions. They knew that the Tamaraneans could absorb energy and wished for a way to make it so that they released it, and that was when she gained the powers of he star bolts. Using her energy manipulating abilities, she can absorb various energies such as radiation or solar energy which makes her immune to its harmful affects.
Starfire has the ability to fly but only when she is thinking of a happy thought. Without a happy thought, Starfire is bound to Earth's gravity just as much as any normal human. She leaves a red contrail after her during flight which makes it seem like her hair is longer than it actually is. Starfire is an exceptional hand-to-hand combatant having been trained by the Warlords of Okaara at a very early age.
Starfire can also store energy and then use it at a later date in a devastating attack, as witnessed in the Outsiders. Her stored energy combined, she created a maelstrom of energy which resembled those of a stars and unleashed a devastating attacked which caused several full-blast explosions.
Kingdom Come
Roughly 20 years in the future of the DCU, we got a glimpse of Starfire's life, thanks to the Kingdom Come continuity. In this future, the heroes of the DCU are scarce and are more violent than their predecessors. They choose the want for brute force and murder in order to stop criminals and crime as a whole. We get glimpses into the lives of many heroes of the past and Kory is one of them. In this future, Kory eventually married Dick and they procured a daughter together. They named her Mar'i Grayson. They lived together happily as a family, and both she and Dick as a couple. Mar'i Grayson eventually went on to become the heroine, Nightstar, incorporating both elements of her father and mother.
