Ancient Epic Conclusion
Overview
After the many introductions of the previous book (The Epic Hyperspace War of Exar Kun, Onderons Beast Wars with Ulic and the Origin of Nomi Sunrider) we finally get to the meat of the Tales of the Jedi Knights. All chess pieces are in place with a few new ones just around the corner (the first appearance of the Mandalorians).
The start is fairly slow littered with minor conflicts which soon will engulf the whole Republic in a full scale war. All mayor characters are back, and the way the stories unfold is really amazing and well plotted.
What worked
The story is great, the plotting is thought through and the art is amazing... even at the end where there is a shift in the art style to something more modern.
The ending is brilliantly sad.
What didn't work
If you are used to the modern style of comics... these here might turn you off, but I consider the art great.
Some stories need quite long to evolve... and sometimes the narrative tends to treat the reader like a child (stating the perfectly obvious or repeating itself to often).
Some ship designs are strange, and some alien designs look like humans with animal heads slapped onto them.
Verdict
I consider these books highly recommended for any Star Wars fan... if you are not a fan but like fantasy sci-fi than I really do believe this is worth the price of submission (and the second book is even better).
