The return of Darth Krayt
A couple of months ago, Star Wars: Legacy ended unexpectedly, leaving one major clue at the end: War was coming. Now, Star Wars Legacy: War is finally out. I'm not exactly sure why this is a miniseries. This is well enough to be called a new story for the series.
In any case, Darth Krayt has cheated death, and is back to take over the Sith order. But one person stands in his way: Darth Wyyrlok.
Pros:
The creative mind of John Ostrander and Jan Duursema returns for this miniseries. While Cade and his friends make an appearance along with some more background on the Fel dynasty, and an unexpected character return, this issue was more about the return of the resurrected Darth Krayt. Yes, the Sith Lord is back and ready to get his revenge on the one who betrayed him: Darth Wyyrlok. Wyyrlok knows this as well, and prepares himself for the one who wins this battle will control the order of the Sith. Like the time in Star Wars Legacy issue 27, Darth Wyyrlok gets more characterization showing more than being an obedient servant. The battle at the end was one of the highlights of the issue.
Jan Duursema returns as the artist, and I wouldn't have it any other way. She hasn't missed a beat after being away for a while. The cast look great like they have been in the first series. I'm also liking Darth Krayt's new look. The best was saved towards the end of the issue.
Cons:
Pacing is the problem with this issue. If you followed Star Wars Legacy since the beginning, there's not really a need for a lot of recapping. New readers to the series can jump in somewhat, but would you really want to before reading the first 50 issues?
Overall: Yes, Darth Krayt is back, and is ready to bring the galaxy to order--The One Sith Order. Now all three fractions: the Roan Fel Empire, Rebellion and Jedi, including Cade need to prepare for battle and for the worst. Despite the small recap, this was great start for War. I'm hoping this miniseries can wrap up Legacy without rushing everything.
