The fall of Anakin
Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Padawan Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) are heading to General Grievous spaceship, amid of a hard battle over planet Coruscant to save Chancellor Palpatine. Inside the spaceship both Jedis and R2-D2 manage to save the Chancellor and land safely in Coruscant. After months of war Anakin and Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman) are finally together and she gives him the news that she’s pregnant. Anakin has a dream where Padme is giving birth but at the same time she’s dying. Anakin has a meeting with Chancellor Palpatine who explains him the capacity that Jedis have to control life and death, something that could save Padme’s life. News of General Grievous’ location arrive to Coruscant and the Jedi Council send Obi-Wan Kenobi and a group of clone soldiers to Utapau, while master Yoda is sent to lead a group of soldiers in planet Kashyyyk home of the Wookies. During a meeting the Chancellor Palpatine’s office, Anakin discovers that he’s a Sith and reports it to the Jedi Council who sends Jedi master Mace Windu (Samuel L Jackson) and other three Jedis to arrest him, but they fail when Anakin helps the Chancellor. The Chancellor commands that Order 66 has to be executed, an order that means that all Jedis are enemies of the Empire and they have to be killed.
The end of the saga can be confusing form the beginning when you find out that Chancellor Palpatine is prisoner of the Trade Federation, the explanation is easy: watch the Clone Wars cartoons where he’s captured by Grievous. The seduction of Anakin to the Sith is dull you don’t imagine he could fall in the dark side of the Force that easy. I was expecting to see more battles in different planets and not spend so much time with Anakin and Padme Amidala, the final fights between Yoda and Palpatine and Ob-Wan with Anakin are very well made, especially when they’re fighting above a lava pit in planet Mustafar. We have a cameo of the Lucas family, attention to Jett Lucas protecting Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) of the clone troopers at the Jedi Temple. The end of the new saga leaves you empty and feeling that something is missing, the end of the film with Owen and Beru Lars is similar to the scene where Luke Sywalker is looking at the spectacular sunset with the twin suns.
