Vigilante Action
The best mercenary in the galaxy is dead, and someone is tracking down his killers. The first issue of this 4-part event starts with a fast pace and hits quite hard.
Plus
As a new comic book collector, I must say I am very impressed with the artwork for this comic. I am not a hardcore fan, but I love the Star Wars movie more than an average person, and the artwork exceeds my expectations. The plot is very simple as a vigilante hunts down killers which is a little played out, but somehow, the script keeps you interested: especially with certain revelations from this issue. I love the cover a lot too. The image of Boba Fett's coprse on the dry floor makes it hard for any Star Wars fan not to pick it up.
Minus
As much as I loved the artwork, it would give it one negative though. I assumed that the tension and emotions on this issue would be really high and it was sad to see that the emotions on some of the characters' faces on certain times weren't properly drawn. Also, as much as the story was intriguing and very believable, it moved a little too fast which doesn't give enough breathing room for the readers to internalize that Boba Fett is dead. Or maybe he's actually not? Who knows?
Final Score
Star Wars fans are making a mistake if they haven't picked this up yet. The fast paced action will draw you into the story which will make you anxious to get the next issue as soon as possible. Although it's tough to swallow that Boba Fett is dead, the creators of this issue did a good job in creating a story around it. 4/5 stars.
PS
I am now a fan of Chris Scalf. ^__^
