Star Trek: Starfleet Academy #3

I love it.  When this book came out the episodes it is reflecting were at almost the same time.  I love this.  It is a you might not know but this was happening behind the scenes comic.  Marvel is doing an awesome job with this series and the Star trek: Early Voyages series and it is a damn shame these books are not still in print.
 
What is really irritating is that this is the state of most comic fans.  Who will buy seven Batman spin-off books a month just because it is part of his franchise.  Forget it it is good or not.  the same could be said for characters like Superman and Spider-man.  The point is that these books are great but never really break through.
 
Sure Star Trek is not really a poor franchise but this book's most well known character is Nog.  Not really the most popular character of the franchise.  Even if he is awesome.  Here is a chance to dig deeper into a well established universe and it is done extreamly well. 
 
The only bummer was the missing charatcer of Riley Aldrin Shepard or Red Squad.  He was in the television show but is absent here.  I am not sure why.  It really would be cool because the character shows up again in a later season and this would just add to his character even if it doesn't count as Star Trek Canon.

This book is no exception.  As I said it goes step by step with the television show and on top of that the characters have been well mapped out in the first two issues so the reader cares how they are retaliating.  The characters are also very distinct this makes for better stories.  I picked up most of these comics in the dollar box at my comic store.  I even think I got them cheaper because I bought a bunch at the time.  Pick these up.
 
I gave this book four stars.  It is a really solid read.  I would recommend this to anyone old enough to hold d'k tahg.
