Stan "The Man" Lee, Marvel Comics's legendary founder, is the writer and co-creator of such timeless characters as the Avengers, the X-Men, Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, and the Hulk. In his words, "'Nuff said!" His best-known catch-phrase is New York's state motto, "Excelsior!!!"
"Stan's Back" Mystery Revealed
Stan Lee's been pretty busy lately. Towards the beginning of February, there was news that Stan and his POW company would be working with Archie Comics to create a line of Stan Lee Comics. Then the mysterious "Stan's Back" image appeared. Even last night Stan appeared on The Big Bang Theory sit-com. Now we get to find out what the "Stan's Back" image means.
POW! Enertainment and Boom! Studios (a perfect match as they both use exclamation points!) have announced a deal that will see the production of three superhero titles presented by Stan Lee. Boom! Studios will premiere these titles later this year. Mark Waid, Editor-in-Chief of Boom! and writer of both Irredeemable and Incorruptible, will write one of the series. The other two series will feature A-list writers that will be announced later.
Now that we know what "Stan's Back" is about, we just have to wait for further information about what the titles will contain. Stan Lee creating more characters works for me. With what Boom! Studios has been doing lately, I will be looking forward to seeing more.
The Man is a legend. Stan doing Arichie? Wow (Does he know that the Mighty Crusaders/Red Circle line is now owned by DC?).
" Mark Waid, Editor-in-Chief of Boom! and writer of both Irredeemable and Incorruptible, will write one of the series. The other two series will feature A-list writers that will be announced later."
That's unfortunate. I was hoping he would write at least one of the titles.
Wow. He may just make another character as big as Spider-Man... AGAIN. This is epic -- he's doing comics again.
So we should expect a full load of iconic characters that compete against Stan from the 60s and get the newest, Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men and Fantastic Four!
Yay!
Although I don't really like Marvel Comics, I do have a huge respect for Stan Lee. He's one of the main shapers of the industry. What's his relation with Marvel Comics and his characters nowadays? Does he still remain linked to the company? Has he sold his rights over characters like Spidey or the FF?
I could swear I have seen a couple of the characters Stan's working on and unfortunately they fell flat.I believe one was named StrongArm and it just seems uninspired but of course that was just an image perhaps the comic and story will be great.I am just not sure if Stan can cut it today but hopefully he does well.
While this is cool and all, I didn't realize that Mark Waid was the editor and chief of Boom! And for some reason that's a bigger surprise to me than Stan Lee's return.
