If you don't like spoilers, then you might want to stop reading this article. This weekend Stan Lee accidentally slipped up during a panel at Dallas Comic-Con about his cameo in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. Lee, who took the stage with Marvel artist John Romita Jr. was so excited that he could barely contain himself when an audience member asked him about his favorite role. According to Lee, the upcoming Spider-Man cameo is "the funniest one yet!" and is one he is the most excited about. Oh, and what's the best kind of proof? The kind that's caught on tape. Someone managed to catch Stan Lee's answer on video and were quick to upload his response to Youtube. And juuust in case they decide to take it down, we decided transcribed it. Fan: Stan, you've done tons of cameos for Marvel Films. I have two questions. One, how does that work? Do you just show up one day and they say 'Hey Stan, let's get you in a scene," or is it written in advance. The second question is which cameo is your all time favorite?
Stan Lee: They have asked me to do these and I have loved doing them. Wait until you see me in Captain America! Wait until you see the Spider-Man one! I guarantee the Spider-Man one is the funniest one you will ever see. Oh and I'll tell yousomething else. I didn't do one for the new X-Men movie (First Class). For some reason they didn't call me. Maybe it was because they shot most of it out of the country, and I didn't want to travel that far. But I figured out the reason why they didn't call me- they are so shrewd! They figure that without me they would sell more tickets. People will go to the movie, and come out and say to themselves 'Wait a minute- we didn't see Stan's cameo! We must have missed it! Then they'll want to go back and that will sell twice as many tickets!
John Romita Jr.: So which is your favorite? That was the second part of the question.
Stan Lee: The one that hasn't come out yet, the Spider-Man one. Wait until you see it! None of these are my idea, they tell me what to do, but this one is genius. Should I tell them? "
(Cheering)
If they find out they may not let me do any more cameo's! Okay, there's a big battle going on with Spider-Man and the Lizard in the Library. I'm the librarian. I'm stamping books and I have earphones on and I am listening to music. (Stan mimics). Meanwhile, this life and death battle is going on behind me and I don't know it because I can't hear them!" So that's what it is, and it's so funny and I look so dumb!
By the look on JRJR's face, I'm not too sure it was such a good idea for Stan to leak his cameo in the next Spider-Man movie, but honestly, what's the worst that could happen? The way I see it, the man created Marvel comics- if he wants to leak his damn cameo, he's allowed.
