Here at Mighty Fine, we are as passionate about celebrating well-known characters we love as we are about shining the spotlight on a few of our favorite lesser-known names. Particularly when they are really good at shutting down the forces of evil through the power of attack rodents!
No one seems to really know for sure when it started, but the recent resurgence of internet popularity of Marvel’s Squirrel Girl – aka Doreen Green, the furry-tailed heroine who managed to take down Doom, M.O.D.O.K. and Thanos in the 90’s – has surely blossomed into a bona-fide cult following. There have been cosplayer spottings, and fan art, her upcoming appearance in New Avengers, and even rumors that she might turn up as an unlockable character in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. (Which we’re so excited about we almost don’t want to talk about lest we jinx it… ssshhh, no seriously, shut up now!)All this underground excitement, plus the fact that she’s just a perfectly awesome, bizarre character (whond has a sidekick squirrel called Monkey Joe – he’s a squirrel, named after a monkey? Why? Why not!); and one who is genuinely happy (far less angsty like many Marvel heroes) to be a do-gooder, it made us realize she was destined to be immortalized in shirt form.

A hero with squirrel-like abilities and features, Squirrel Girl is not always taken seriously, but she has nonetheless defeated many of the Marvel universe's greatest villains. She is a longtime member of the Great Lakes Avengers, and briefly served as a nanny for Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.
