    Ben Simmons was a young Spider-Man fan who witnessed Spider-Man being beaten by the Hobgoblin. Donning a homemade costume and pair of toy web-shooters, young Ben jumped into action as Spider-Boy. Blinding Hobgoblin with gooey green 'web-fluid', Spider-Boy enabled Spider-Man to escape and stop the villain. However, Spider-Man told Spider-Boy to never try to be a superhero again, as Ben was too young and could easily get hurt. When Spider-Man heard kids picking on Ben for "lying about being Spider-Boy", he gave Ben one of his broken web-shooters as a reward for helping him.
