Serious Business
What do you think the chances are of two different Kevin Smith's working on the same comic? I ask because, while each comic states that a man named Kevin Smith wrote the script for each issue in this series, I find it hard to believe that the man who was making bad, childish sex jokes in the first two issues is now maturely handling the subject of rape. Oh well.
This issue sees Spider-Man enlisting the aid Daredevil to help out the Black Cat, who has found herself in a bit of trouble after being discovered lying under the dead body of Klum. When Murdock tells Spidey that he believes she's innocent, Parker becomes determined to help her in any way possible. Considering that this is only the fourth of six issues, things obviously don't go very smoothly. I gotta say, I'm really liking where this series is going. There's an interesting twist at the end, and the dialogue throughout was surprisingly good. I also liked the inclusion of Daredevil in this comic. I've never read much of his own title, but I always enjoy seeing him when he plays the role of guest star.
Kevin Smith proves me wrong yet again here. Hopefully, that trend continues. If it does, I'll be a happy little Spidey fan and I'll revise my opinion of Smith. I'm still not gonna read The Widening Gyre though.
