What do you think about Uatu Jackson's bubble in this panel from Avenging Spider-Man #15.1? Will this play a part in Peter Parker's nearly-inevitable return?

Considering Peter's 'ghost' has been erased, and Uatu didn't know anything about him being dead, I find that unlikely.

i wouldnt even consider it a ghost this is just my opinion here but all otto did was brainwash peter into thinking he was otto, he left an imprint in peters mind with al his memories just like a clone thinking hes the original...really peter could come back if he willed himself too. He just needs to be the dominant personality....like a banner hulk situation the ghost thing was just for the readers sake. like when banner/hulk see each other in their reflections they aren't ghosts either

    @punyparker: Christopher Yost wrote that...

@w0nd: I bet it is something pretty f***ing crazy. All I really know is that everyone is going to have their minds completely blown when someone decides to bring Peter Parker back. Superior Spider-Man could turn out to be the biggest mind-f*** in the history of comic books.

@punyparker: I don't know about that. Unless you've got a source, I'd say Yost probably gets permission from the Spidey editors (i.e. Stephen Wacker, etc.)

Can you give me some examples of Slott's "continuity porn?" I'm curious as to where you've found these errors.

Possibly, they could isolate Peter and eventually kill him (or hold him trapped).

That IS a big error. I mentioned in another thread that it should have been addressed in more detail on the final two pages of SSM #4 instead of that really creepy (but awesome) scene with spider-bots crawling all over the place.

I'm kinda on the fence about the Avengers thing. One part of me says that Slott wrote them totally wrong, but the other part says that these guys are not neuroscientists; they didn't know what to look for outside of the tests they were doing on Otto.

The Goblin is coming in SSM 10, and his appearance in SSM 5 (?) was f***ing awesome. I think it was a pretty good idea to write it that early because it had me looking forward to his return already. Dan Slott made a statement here on Comicvine about Madame Web's status, but he deleted the post so it wouldn't be right for me to tell you what he said.

I concur on the hairnet. That's prrretty much exactly what I was thinking when I saw that. I think Humberto Ramos can be blamed for that fail.

Possibly, they could isolate Peter and eventually kill him (or hold him trapped).

Before SSM 9 I was thinking kind of along that line: that Ock would steal whatever the "way" was, whether it was still in the blueprint stage or there was a prototype, and use it to capture Pete's ghost (which is I thought it was at the time) and trap him indefinitely.

Characters like Norman or Black Cat are isolated and vanished.....i really dont know whats that about...

@punyparker: I suppose we do agree on most of the errors. I think where we differ is that I'm enjoying SSM and I think it's written well for the most part :P

I haven't read the last appearance of the Black Cat, so I have no idea about her current status. I think this "continuity porn" you speak of is probably a big trip-up for most writers of serialized fiction. I mean, Bendis is Marvel's superstar writer and, as @youmessinwithme pointed out, he has trouble with it too. Aside from that, I sure hope Norman is the Goblin.

Slott's motives for taking Spider-Man in this direction are a mystery to me. Maybe he just wants to write Ock as Spider-Man, maybe he believes it best for the Spider-Man franchise to have a new Spider-Man (probably this in my opinion), or maybe all he's doing is having an epic trolling session. Regardless of his motives, I'm having fun reading Superior Spider-Man.

There are quite a few elements that make me so interested in this. I'll try to list them:

    1. A new Spider-Man.

    2. The cerebral nature of the series, which includes the possibilities of Peter's return. I don't know about you, but I get quite excited when reading these crazy mind-f*** stories. (No sexual references intended...)

    3. SSM is giving me a whole new appreciation for the character of Peter Parker.

    4. I am looking forward to seeing Peter's return, regardless of how cerebral it is.

Maybe you should start a "Why do you like SSM" thread along the lines of my "Why do you hate SSM" thread... :P

@impy: Who said i'm not interested in this!?!?!

I am,this is interesting as hell!....but(i posted it in another thread, you'll see) it's wonderfull as a story, not as series....thats just irritates people.....

    1.Doc Ock?....really

    2.Agreed

3.Yeah...an evil rapist with daddy issues....i can totally relate to that...(internet sarcasm)

    4.Yes.

I'll never start a topic which includes the words "hate" and "Spider-Man" in it.....wont make Slott happy....cause i think this is what he does....feeds from the hate.
That's a pity...i accually liked him,and his writing in ASM.....

    1. Norman Osborn would have been much more badass, but think about it: he's got a public life, unlike Ock, who is a career villain. Who do you think should be in Pete's body instead of Ock?

    3. Nonononono...I'm not saying it's making me relate to Otto, it's making me appreciate just how awesome Peter is.

Heh. Funny how someone who likes SSM (i.e. me lol) started a hate thread, huh?

I'm sure he feeds from the hate. The only other option is to be broken down by it (one can never be fully indifferent to hate), so it's not like he has much of a choice.

@punyparker: I've never actually read a Kangaroo story. If not Ock, I'd probably want Sandman in Pete's body 'cause Curtis Connors would be waaaay too obvious. I'm not exactly sure what you meant by that last sentence (post #21) but I hope Gwen Stacy comes back with Peter...I always liked her better than MJ...

Right - with Peter being a mental projection isolating him would not be reasonable. Doc Ock can't even see him, it's just for the reader. XD

@thatonekidwholikescomics@punyparker: Yep. That possibility kinda flew out the window in SSM 8. I still think there's a possibility of my theory if Peter ends up actually coming back as a ghost.

I'm thinking that maybe Slott had asked Yost to put that panel in AvSM 15.1 because he was still keeping his options open at that point.
