with all the other superhero films coming out from fox, marvel and dc, will spider-man lose popularity? Kids born this decade will still know of spidey due to the films and the animated shows but in all seriousness

with no spider-man film out for another 4 years, will kids and older folk alike lose their interest in the web head? Plus when ultimate inevitably is cancelled will the people adopt to other heroes like iron man or thor?

I hope he doesn't lose popularity but instead gains it, but the more I look into it the more likely I believe it to happen.

No. There's more to being popular and being iconic than movies. Its something that takes decades of work.

Even now with all the MCU movies, just go to a local toy story. Typically you see will a few different sections for example

    -Avengers have their own section

    -Spider-Man has his own section

    -Superman has his own section

    -Batman has his own section

    -TMNT has their own section

-Star Wars has their own section

And that's just one example of how kids can grow up with heroes.

Spider-Man isn't going away. He never will.

He won't be number one for a long time, but he will always be a lynchpin iconic property for years to come, but I do feel they are quietly trying to fade Spidey out of the lime light due to some feedback of there movies like the Avengers and Captain America. Marvel is secretly looking for the next Batman of their company, since Spidey is their superman in iconic status but not in current popularity.

He also had a TV show in the 70s. Though, it was a little less than groovy.

I saw those as reruns in the 80s. They were absolutely groovy.

Yeah, I am remember when they used to show them on the sci fi network, they were apparently really bad but my child brain couldn't tell otherwise. I just remember the only characters from the comics that were actually on the TV show were Spidey and Jameson.

I only really remember a wall crawling scene where Spider-Man slowly spun 360 degrees on a building wall to see the streets below, I guess to show viewers how high up he was. It took him forever to do it too lol. "Spida-man, y u so slow?"

Ha ha, yeah, it probably took like 80% of their budget to get those shots of how high up he was. Poor Spidey...

@amazingspiderman15: in 1, they were really trying to combine spider-man with batman. after that, before they made 2 they said 'well that didnt work. let's try the opposite spectrum'. 2 is the best of example of 'we could've tried but we got tired after 1 and we have the rights so nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo'. the suit looks great, that's it. 2 is so bad it's great, but still garbage and that is sad. i am eagerly awaiting the next mess sony gives us though.
