We all knew Peter Parker would return one day and now it looks like that could happen this year! A look at the Marvel Solicitations (March-April) reveals that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is being relaunched. Writer Dan Slott and artist Humberto Ramos are still onboard. Naturally, it's tough not to jump to conclusions and assume this means Pete's coming back, but we can't say for certain yet.

Are you excited to hear more about this or what, Spider-Man fans? Only time will tell what this could potentially mean for Doctor Octopus.

Dunno how I feel about this. Love dan slotts writing but kinda hoped it would be a little longer before this happened.

The precise reason why I didn't bitch and whine like about 80% of Spider-Man fans when Superior was revealed - we all knew that this was coming eventually.

This is expected, yes, but I was expecting a few more years with a new wall-crawler before Peter returned. Seriously, Superior Spidey has been, in my opinion, one of Marvel's better offerings. I honestly feel a little gipped of a great series

Did I miss something? That image might imply that Peter Parker will be Spider-man again but it doesn't say that. Does the actual solicitation say that? I would love for Peter to be back but right now it just seems like people are making assumptions because the book is titled Amazing Spider-man.

It's already started happening. Peter 'came back' when Doc Ock was trying to access what little memories he had left of Peters at the end of the Necessary Evil arc.

I'm a little disappointed, to be honest. I just reread the whole Superior saga over the last week and I'm seeing all these things Slott has seeded. I don't want Superior to end for at least three or four more arcs after Goblin Nation. I want to see Sp-Ock respond to a whole bunch of crazy things. But at the same time, I'm seriously intrigued by the possibilities of Peter's return. How will he deal with the fallout of Ock's actions in his life? How will he return? It's very interesting....

@peppeyhare: oh me too but I'm loving superios spider-man right now. Hopefully there's some way they can both keep going.

Does anyone else feel like we're going through a Doctor Who phase here? You know with the whole this guy dying and that guy taking his place, then a pattern of I hate him....he's not that bad...I love him....please don't go? Anyone?

I expected Peter's return to coincide with the release of Amazing Spider-Man 2, so I guess it makes sense. With such limited time, though, I hope Slott doesn't rush this too much and everything falls apart and doesn't makes sense (not like it really has up until this point but still). It'd be nice if there isn't some "writer god" solution and this whole Superior arc really ends up meaning nothing.

Even though I've wanted Peter's return, it felt like it's happening so fast. Filler issues like the Screwball and Jester stuff could have been with a more main Spidey villain and meant more. Hindsight and all that, I guess.

Peter is about to end his Superior journey just as Wolverine is about to begin his own.

other writers have written books much longer than Slott has been on Spider-man....Johns was on GL for 9 years, Peter David has been writing X-Factor for 10 years....Slott has only written 77 issue of Amazing and so far 24 of Superior....his books sell quite well so why would they let him leave until he's ready?

I'm gonna go ahead and say that dock ock's brain is gonna get put into that robo-butler of his and pete is coming back because reasons.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if Ock fails at overthrowing the Goblin Nation and Peter's return involves his fixing that whole thing. It would make for an interesting turn of events, Peter's return heralded by success where Ock failed.

I think that little gold Ocktobot still has the last copy of Peter's memories and personality and the Lizard will play a part. Call me nuts, but those two will be big. Or, I'm nuts.

I completely agree. This isn't an I hate Slott post by any means but this man has written so many stories of Spider-Man since Brand New Day. He plotted out an entire series for 100 issues. It's an open and close story that Slott … what MORE could he give us? Good or bad. It would have been the perfect beginning for Peter, in my opinion, if ASM relaunched with a new writer. But oh well.

Funny that you mention Dr. Who……Slott is OBSESSED with Dr. Who. Coincidence? I think not...

The rumors among most comic corners is that in September, Marvel is going to be throwing a status quo change that will piss off Wolverine fans in a similar way to how Superior did to Spider-Man fans. This is what Marvel's Sales VP said about it:

What’s happening starting with Wolverine#1will have fans, retailers, non-comic readers and more screaming the same manner as what we heard during the Superior Spider-Man launch. At the very least there will be something new and exciting for all types of fans. This is really unlike anything we’ve done before. I expect we’re going to hear about a lot of sec prints across the line, and we’re already doing what we can to avoid that…

I was so getting into Superior Spider-Man, because of the death of Peter. I really like where Slott is heading with Doc Ock. I will still give it a try if they bring back Peter; hopefully Slott's writing will make me like Spider-Man. Glad to hear all my Spidey friends are happy about his possible return.

I knew Ock's tenure was nearing its end as soon as Osborn got his hands on Carlie and her little book. My money is on Osborn bringing back Peter because he wants to be the one to kill him. You don't take from Osborn.

Great, we all knew it would happen (as several people have pointed out). But at the same time with how some people were acting you'd think the comic media as a whole (and Marvel in particular) never upset the status quo and that those changes were always permanent.

I'm going to go ahead and jump to conclusions. I think we were all expecting this announcement any day now. Peter Parker has to be Spider-Man when the movie comes out, that's the way the business runs.

I have to say, I was completely on-board with the idea of Doctor Octopus in Spidey's brain, it had a lot of potential to be a fresh new take. That being said, I don't think I've read a single book in which Superior was written convincingly or with any kind of depth from any writer. It's not a Slott problem, at least five other writers in either large or small doses have failed to make Superior anything other than annoying. I'm glad that they gave it a year and a half of an honest try, enough time to really steep the change in cannon, but It's time for Peter to come back.

We should be wary of this. Things are not always as they seem. For all we know we could have TWO Spider-Men running about: Peter and Ock. We'll have to wait and see.
