Let me say my piece on Superman Returns: It was boring. It was boring. Jeee-SUS Christ it was boring. Like, I liked when he flies down the airplane, then proceeds afterwards to lecture the people about how airplanes are still statistically safe to ride. That is classic Supes right there. Kevin Spacey can act, and when he was Lex, it was both comedic and awesome when he flipped out evilly. However, aside from those little details, the film blowed. I mean, we know for a fact that NOTHING can hurt the big S, so it was a real yawn-fest when Supes when in there, taking out thugs who really had no chance of taking him out. Like, where was Parasite? Where was Metallo? Where was f-king Lobo?! Even when he got stabbed by Kryptonite it didn't matter, and in fact, just proved to me what a wuss he was. That without his powers, he really was...powerless.
Now, take Batman Begins on the other hand. That one had a lot of problems, mainly because it felt a little rushed, like they were really eager to get that to the public. I mean, some of the dialogue was shite, and that Dawson's Creek Girl really can't act(the second slap in the car was unneccesary). However, that being said? Batman rocked. Bruce Wayne was just as intriguing to watch as his costumed counterpart, the whole mythology behind why he dresses up as a freak, and Liam Nealson all combined to make one hell of a movie. And besides, his interrogation scene with the fat cop is...just so classic Batman. I loved it. "DO I LOOK LIKE A COP?! SWEAR TO ME!!" That look of utter contempt for the guy...I mean, that's how he would look when striking fear into his enemies...
To answer the question of this thread, even though the originator asked to let it die? My answer is this: Yes, I like Spider-Man. In fact, my feelings can be read on the "Spider-Man Respect Thread." 'Nuff said.
