Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17246 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Who is most likely going take over Spider-man when Slott leaves..

I hope either Bendis or Yost. Both know how to write Spider-man well.
agreed...I had originally planned on saying Bendis but I'd be happy if Yost took over on the main series....but with him doing Avenging now I think it would be cool to see where Bendis took the series

He's busy with the X-men and wouldn't Yost be burned out from writing all three spider-book?
Yost would be great, unless they do another creative team mix up after this year. In that case I would love to see someone who has never written the character before have a go at it.

By the time Slott is done Bendis will have set up enough for a new writer.
Well he could do it. Make Avenging actually have some kind of ties to whatever the main book will be so you don't have to read two separate books to get the full story, like how Avenging and Superior are. Where Avenging seems to be SpOck's book ,where it seems SpOck's plan seems to be unfolding, while Superior seems to be Peter's book.
@therrieur: That was a promo for Savage Wolverine 6.
I'd like to see Waid or Fraction. Obviously Yost wouldn't be bad but he already writes two Spider books so...

That would be a dream come true. I'm not even that big of a Spidey fan but Waid is my main man, so I'd love to see him on anything.

Oh dear god please no. Waid seems to hate Spider-man.
@Phaedrusgr said:
Yost, Wells, Remender...
I could get on-board with any of these. Although Yost would be my personal choice as long as he doesn't leave Scarlet Spider :p

Not so. In the DD issues with Spider-Man in them he's treated respectfully enough.

Such as taking a well known and established Spider-man character (Felicia Hardy) and having her completely change personalities to fit the issue? Or having SpOck nigh-on lose to Stilt-man despite the fact he had previously one-shotted Scorpion a guy who would mash Stilt-man into the ground?
@Strider92: Really? Waid hates Pete? I thought Slott is the hater here to be honest! Yost is the choice. And he will never leave Scarlet Spider. He just can't...

Yeah Waid is to Spider-man what Ennis is to Wolverine. If he ended up on Spider-man I would most likely drop it and I managed to stomach Dying Wish and One More Day so thats saying something lol. Waid is good on characters he knows well and likes such as Wolverine and Hulk but Spider-man?
And yeah Yost leaving Scarlet Spider will be a sad day indeed.

I think you're reading into things too deeply. I personally liked DD's fling with Black Cat. And no one else I've spoken too thinks she did anything so far removed from character.
And the SpOck fight with Stiltman went the way it did because Stiltman just got an upgrade from Doc Ock's technology. The fight was meant to be ironic. Also, it would have been plot related, because if Spidey could handle the amped Stiltman alone then there would have been no need for DD.
Yost could work double on Scarlet Spider and Spider-Man. Wells would also be another logical choice given his early Avenging work. I know Remander has a reputation from X-Force but can he write Spider-Man well? The only other writer I can think of at Marvel who fits the bill is Joshua Fialkov. His stories in ASM 692 and 700 were awesome. I could read his work on Spider-Man very easily.

From what I remember there were multiple topics made about this very subject on this very forum. After that issue there were a lot of comments on this.

Considering SpOck is a 10tonner+ with very flexible morals and genius level intellect there really shouldn't have been any need for DD. Him having trouble with Stilt-man was PIS. Peter has dealt with him easily in the past and Stilt-man was using Otto's own tech. Even if he wasn't in Spider-man's body there is no reason Doc Ock shouldn't have been able to shut him down alone. Heck Otto shut down Tony Stark's Iron man suit and it wasn't even his tech.
Waid is a good DD and Hulk writer but he's been consistently bad imo at writing Spider-man.

@Strider92: Michael Scott's against Waid? Done then! Waid is off the table.
Its a shame really because Waid is a good writer. He's just fallen into this trend of butchering Peter's character (that a lot of other writers have fallen into). Although the SpOck Vs Stilt-man thing made me wonder......
@Strider92: I pretty much addressed a lot of what you just said. I admitted that it was a necessity of plot to have him struggle with Stiltman because otherwise it wouldn't be a Daredevil comic. But it's also because of irony and humor. It's not really worth getting your panties in a punch about.
I haven't read other things from him on Spidey but I'll seek them out now and decide if I agree or not.

Tbh I fail to see the humor. I'm not dissing Waid he is a good writer he just doesn't have a good track record with Spider-man especially when he's out of the costume and the saying is panties in a "bunch" :p.
@Lvenger: Yeah there was one bumped in the General Discussion section a week or so ago hence why I remembered it.
@Lvenger: I think he could definitely write SpOck due to the laxed morals I can't say if he could write Spider-man as I can't say i've ever seen him write a light-hearted character like Peter.
@Lvenger: Yeah thats him. Has he gone downhill recently? Haven't seen him since Spectacular Spider-man.

The series has had a running joke about Stiltman. It was even mentioned last issue.
And forgive my typo :P

Haha love Peter David, loved what he did for Spider-man Edge of Time even though most people didn't.

Agreed. Remender is kinda dark imo. Have you read Uncanny Avengers?
I hope Slott stays for a very long time. But if he has to be replaced then I would love for it to be Peter David or Zeb Wells
