Lots of great writers on this list. I'm going to throw a cat among the pigeons and suggest Scott Snyder or John Layman.

And no, I'm not suggesting they write it in the same style as Batman. They are both very creative, diversified and mature storytellers.

Yost had his opportunity to do his version of Peter Parker through Kaine Parker; and he blew it. What made Slott different was not his writing, but his ability to advertise his vision to the masses. Otherwise, Scarlett Spider would still be on-going. Besides that, I think that we'll be waiting a very longtime before Slott's run on Spider-Man has concluded, which might be well into the 2020's.

yost wrote kaine really well. Kaine is not like peter and shouldn't be written like peter, they may be clones but they are different people. Plus scarlet spider was cancelled because of it's sales even though it was received really well. I agree with your point on slott staying on the book for a while.

@darthfury78: I have to disagree. Kaine and Peter are two different people. With different personalities. So Yost has never actually had that chance. The closet he got was Team up and at that point Peter was on the bench while Slott was telling an arc without him.

Thanks. I stopped buying Iron Man some time ago. I've only got up to Vol 4. Was spending too much money at the time, so had to cut back on some titles.

Also the bleeding edge armor which I think appears in Vol 5, doesn't sound like it would appeal to me. :-)

I may look at getting some back issues too. Is Fraction's run Vol 6? It's been a while since I last picked up an Iron Man book and does it incorporate the bleeding edge armor?

I dont know about the armor,but i think Fraction's run is Vol 5

@marvelman92: It's not just his bloody piss all over Ultimate Spider-Man. Detective Comics: Stalked (Harvest), the Harley and Ivy miniseries, Jingle Belle and Countdown to Final Crisis were all abominations. He is a terrible, terrible writer who merely got lucky with Gotham City Sirens, Batman TAS and Harley Quinn.
