..watched it again last weekend. Yeah there are annoying bits, but other stuff that is quite watchable. I don't remember people slagging it off at the time so much and I think I am right in saying it remains the highest grossing Spiderman film to date. Was it really as bad as everyone makes out these days? It hardly qualifies as a flop!
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17242 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Was Spiderman 3 really that bad?
Its the only movie I ever strongly considered walking out of in the cinema, and I saw B&R and the 90s Avengers movie at the cinema.
i agree with @bezza i enjoyed it despite the flaws
It wasn't even a CBM, it was a daytime soap opera. Relationship troubles, amnesia, and FREAKING. CRYING. EVERYWHERE!!!
. Relationship troubles, amnesia, and FREAKING. CRYING. EVERYWHERE!!!
All three of these were ever present cruxes of the Spider-Man comic books throughout the decades. Even the amnesia, Harry having amnesia is directly lifted from the comics.
Now the jazz dancing, that is something that was suspiciously absent in the comics.... ;)

Oh god, thanks for reviving that buried memory

You don't like crying scenes?
I'm sorry. I haven't fed my inner troll in too long.
2nd worst spidey film after asm2. i liked most of it even emo peter, but sandman and venom shouldnt have been in the movie. the villains ruined it.
@darryl: @bezza: I think so, I didn't enjoy it one bit, the entire time i was upset they made smart people do dumb things. example Harry tells MJ to break up with Peter. Why the hell did she listen? Not only that but she didn't tell Peter Harry had a psychotic murderous break down which is pretty damn dangerous. Did she forget her boyfriend was Spider-man? No one communicated in that film...they acted insane things seemed to just be happening.same thing I believe asm2 suffered from, but worse. MJ was unlikeable, black costume spidey made me laugh, i didn't think he was a bad ass i thought he was funny. The list goes on. People seem to get upset that i don't like the movie, but I don't know why it concerns them.
Yeah it made money, ultimate spider-man runs more than one season, bieber still has a fan base that avengers cartoon still airs. Things making money doesn't necessarily mean good. People paid to see it because they thought it would be good, it's not like they knew before hand it would suck, how could that? At the end of the day it's just a movie, no one should really take it to heart, both sides, the ones defending it and the ones who hate it's just entertainment.
Worse in fact.
MJ/Peter go through the same b/s we've all ready seen 2 times in a row. MJ gets captured again. They have to retcon in Sandman just to make him sort-of relevant. Venom is a huge monstrosity. "Gwen" is nothing like Gwen and is actually more like a young MJ with blonde hair.
And I haven't even begun to discuss emo Peter.
Its the worst CBM ever madfe, period. At least B/R I can enjoy from a "its over the top" perspective. There's nothing good about SM3.
Wow, I didn't realise people hated it that much! I think readers of the comics are harder on films, similar to the comments i have heard from people who read the Harry Potter books before seeing the films and critiqued them...I really am surprised at those who say it was the worst CBM ever. Worst than Daredevil, Elektra, Batman and Robin and Spawn? Really??!!
Not as cringe-worthy bad as TASM2 but terrible nonetheless.
IMO, SM2 is the best of the pick from the Sony franchise.

Wohohohohoh
Glad you got a sense of humor.

Even regular movie going audiences know how bad it is, not just comic nerds like myself. And yes, it's worse than all those films. Batman and Robin at least had camp to it that made me laugh, Daredevil and Spawn were actually, pretty good. Elektra was...bad, but at least she didn't start dancing and doing emo hair flips.
To me, the only films worse than SM3 are: Howard the Duck, Catwoman, Steel and Superman 4.
Spider-Man 3 was an enormous disappointment, it had the foundations of a potentially great movie, it's still watchable though and had great action. Amazing Spider-man 2 is worse in my opinion, because they didn't learn from numbers 3's mistakes and they were actually trying, really hard, that's what sad about it. Spider-Man 2 is easily the best of all five.
Spawn is the only movie I have ever walked out on. Daredevil was the cheesiest corniest Superhero movie I can remember..just shows that this topic is all about opinions. One mans meat is another's poison.
Depends on who you ask. It has major flaws but it's not the worst comic book movie out there. I personally didn't mind it. I consider it a B-movie.
I prefer Howard the Duck personally, I'd give Spider-Man 3 2/10, Howard maybe somewhere between 2.5/10 and 3/10.
Catwoman is about par with Spider-Man 3 IMO, I can't decide which was worse
Daredevil curb-stomps Spider-Man 3, that film was merely very mediocre, with that one playground scene being notably awful.
When i was young, corny movies didn't seem so corny(I used to like Batman 4ever and Batman n Robin), but watching it after growing up, it sucked pretty bad.
Now I feel like i should have listened to my mom when she said i'm too young to watch it.
I think Spider-Man 3 has its individual moments that are fun, such as Peter Parker mis-behaving and coming off like a dork (yes, I liked the emo and dance scenes). The humour with Jameson wasn't as subtle as the first two movies (they tried hard), but I can't help laugh at his expression when Peter was demanding a job and sitting on his desk. The battles were cool as well, and Sandman and Venom's transformation were spot on! These are scenes I can appreciate online through youtube, but I can't watch the movie as a whole. It's too long, filled with twists and turns and the relationship between characters that felt forced and unnecessary (did they need to tie everything?). I loved Venom's concept though, or at least my interpretation of it, because he wasn't a sympathetic villain, but as usual he had to die, and leave development of the character as an anti-hero for another try... I still rate it above The Amazing Spider-Man and TASM2
I didn't like Eddie Brock and the Jazz dancing. It was enough when I first saw it to completely put me off the movie. Everything else I did enjoy.
Still above ASM2 for me.
@jonny_anonymous: I agree with you on that one for certain.
@jonny_anonymous: Spiderman 1 and 2 were good

Correction. Venom is a huge monstrosity, just not in a good way :P
