Spider-Man

Character » Spider-Man appears in 9205 issues.

Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, which he could have prevented, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became the Amazing Spider-Man!

Ultimate was enough.

Now yes I understand he might come back, and I am not a crazy person who is cancelling all marvel from my pull list. But killing Peter in one universe was enough . Spider-man should always be peter. It is working in ultimate because miles is a black peter. But I want Peter. No matter what Superior Spider-man does deserve a try.

That's a bit offensive and I don't think that is the only reason it's successful. I would attribute it more to Bendis' writing and the fact that it's a completely new character who is a lot younger than Peter (13 I believe.) Besides, he's not "a black Peter" they have completely different personalities. (Not to mention Miles is actually half Black and half-Hispanic not just Black.) Miles is nowhere near as smart as Peter and is not as interested in science as Peter was. That's made abundantly clear when they meat up in the Spider-Men arc and Miles acts like Peter's biggest fan.

Besides I like the idea of Superior Spider-Man and can't wait to see how it turns out. I just wish Peter was still around in some capacity, because he's dead in both the 616-Universe and the Ultimate Universe.

Oh believe you me I'm still holding a grudge against Marvel killing off Peter. At least Ultimate Peter went out in a truly heroic fashion, fighting the Sinister Six when he was already injured and ending up dying protecting his friends and family.

I've decided to give Superior Spider-Man a chance, though I'm ready to drop it at a moments notice. I concede that after my initial rage at the idea of Superior's identity, I admit it's an interesting premise. My main source of dislike for it is that they had Peter Parker die in such a horrible manner!!! No one knows Peter is dead, no one knows that a man they have worked with for YEARS is dead and someone else is posing as him. That hurts me. It really does.

It'll last until it stops selling comics.....Marvel is trying to get people to buy comics. This is a gimmick.
