It suffered from too many villains. Though admittedly, I do find it superior to any of the other Spider-Man films, this was my gripe with it.
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17243 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
The problem with TASM2
So I take it you think this is the best Spiderman movie to date? Well done btw for not giving out any spoilers, must have been tough holding it all in !!! I cant wait until tomorrow morning when I get to see it. Most of my family think its so sad that a 45 year old middle age bloke is itching to see a Spidey movie, but do I care? Nah!!

LOL, I can hold it in for now but I do believe it to be the best Spider-Man to date. It improved upon anything, not flawless but I preferred it to The Winter Soldier. You'll enjoy yourself.
^
unrelated note. Giving Sony has big aspirations, I would say expect to have multiple villains every film. Even assuming every villain we've seen to date is going to be in the S6, there's still 2 more to go...plus Venom (unless he joins them).
I hope we get to see Kraven ._.
plus...Spidey's gallery is enormous so...
@frozen: I disagree Electro was by far the main villain. Harry had a very brief (albeit important appearence) and the Rhino was basically a cameo. He had all of maybe 3mins sceen time in the suit. However Harry should have had more time to develop that I will agree on.
LOL !! (this Brit feels the pain of you Americans, I'm sure it will pass after I see the film tomorrow!).
@bezza: I hope you enjoy it man :)

I think Kraven would be a cool way to bring the Lizard back for more development.
ASM2 is the best Spidey film to date.
exactly, it is a superior movie

Do you think MJ will be in the next one?

probably, Marc Webb said she was cut from this film so peter and gwen could develop and now that gwen is dead MJ will probably be introduced.
There's some juggling going on with the characters, but its not that bad, I'd say its more like Dark Knight than Spider-Man 3
- Rhino = Scarecrow - barely in the movie at all
- Electro = Joker - in the movie a lot
- Goblin = Two-Face - mainly in the movie here and there as a normal guy, only turns bad for one scene right at the end
The main difference is that Dark Knight saves some time because it doesn't have to show back story to Joker.
Yep I'd agree with that.
It was a good film but nothing impressive I'd say it improved alittle bit from the previous film.At time it felt more like a romance film,expected more from the fights.wasn't a bad film at all either
@flameboy298: I bet it still can't beat Spider man 2 from 2004.
@ascended: Yea It didn't at all,I think real Super-man fans may enjoy it but overall I wasn't impressed or amazed
Do you mean Spider-man fans? (not super-man)...
interesting views....personally I think it ranks along-side Spiderman 2, but I know the reviews haven't been the best....
@bezza: aren't we talking abut Man of Steel?
er no, this is the Amazing Spiderman 2 thread and we are reviewing the latest film...
so are you saying your comments actually apply to Man of steel and you haven't seen TASM2?!
@bezza: Jk
I've seen it.
I didn't think it was a bad film,I thought some parts were rushed How harry quickly evolves into Green Goblin.Also how Peter goes and fights Rhino right after he mourns Gwen,but I agree Gwen's death was well done.The movie just didn't stick with me I'd give it a 7.5
@frozen: There were only two real villains, I think Rhino was used in the best way he could be considering the movie's plot. He was never gonna be a guy who carries a whole movie and he would have just been in the way of the actual plot. The Green Goblin thing was obviously mostly just there to set up ASM 3 and a bit of fan service honestly so I could see people's issues there but overall I think the movie was pretty good. I'm trying not to be spoilery here since I know a lot of people haven't seen it yet and the only reason I saw it was because my buddy got a copy under less than legal methods and I couldn't resist borrowing it . (And Yes I am going to pay to see it when it comes here, and technically I didn't support piracy because I didn't pay for it.)
@joshmightbe: Lol, I've actually changed my mind completely upon re-watching it. A problem I did have however was the unnecessary mid air collision sequence and Norman Osborn dying.
@bezza: Jk
Peter goes and fights Rhino right after he mourns GwenThere's a five month period between those two things happening.
Peter goes to her grave over a long period of time, there's the funeral at the end of summer, then montages of him standing at her grave during Fall, and standing there during the Winter with snow, the news broadcast says he's been gone for 5 months.

regarding the 2nd: happened off screen and we never saw a body. 99.9% chance he is still alive. this is a CBM after all.

I don't see it. They could do that but it detracts from the story of the film and Harry's development, pretty sure they wanted him to become the Goblin.
@silent_bomber: I don't remember hearing that at all...

Maybe he watched the dodgy pirate version online

Meh. Anything's possible. The way they handled it clearly left it open for me personally. When something is intended to be permanent, it happens like Moira's death on Arrow.
In any case. I really need it to come out in Theaters so I can properly judge it again. The action sequences were just not as enjoyable on a cam
As of now (seen it just 1 time and not re watched it till its in theaters) the only major problem I had was the score. You could tell multiple people worked on it because its extremely schizophrenic. And god...I was hoping the shitty dubstep was trailer only.

...How about the scenes where months and seasons are seen passing by?

It just seemed that they really went for the approach of killing him, because it tied into Harry's character and personally made the character feel more obsessive. The action scenes did have some weird dub-step going on, I don't know why --- I got used to it, the scenes with Goblin are much more sinister though.
@silent_bomber: yeah.....Im probably gonna have to watch this movie again when a good copy comes out so I can give a accurate review of this movie

Oh agreed. DeHaan was amazing. Way better than Norman and/or Harry in the first films. Norman was just handled poorly with the power ranger outfit and Harry was just...James Franco...all that needs to be said.
Super pumped for SM3. Hope Giamatti gets a bigger role, he was pretty fun too lol
I've decided that my only problem with the film is the editing.
There were scenes in the movie which should've been cut, and wouldn't have caused any real issues had they been removed, this would've streamlined everything and made it flow better IMO
Like I said 8/10 from me, I liked it a lot but it had some flaws.
I think a director's cut could honestly raise it a point very easily.

Also I want to know more about this trailer scene which was cut
I'd be interested to know whether Felicia and Green Goblin had some dialogue here.

Did you notice when Electro was playing Itsy Bitsy Spider? I won't say when to avoid spoilers but I have to admit it was a silly moment.
Yeah, sounds like you maybe missed a couple of bits. I thought the end was really well handled personally, you clearly see the seasons change before the threat of the Rhino brings Spidey out of his retirement. Sure it has a few flaws, but overall its a very enjoyable film.
@flameboy298: I bet it still can't beat Spider man 2 from 2004.
Not even the intire reboot will beat Spider Man 2 from 2004.

It was an attack on Oscorp by the Goblin to get revenge for firing him and blaming him on the secret testings done to Max.
I'm disappointed to hear that's not in the movie, the shot of Goblin in the smoke through the glass is cool.
I saw it yesterday, and I think it's okay. I have a few gripes with the pacing and that dub step weirdness with Electro, but overall I think it did a solid job. Andrew is still great as Peter Parker: Spider-Man and Sally Field is doing great as a slightly more involved Aunt May than we saw in Raimi's trilogy. I'm not 100% convinced by Harry/Green Goblin though. For my money he goes way too crazy WAY too fast. That's part of the pacing issues I mentioned. I'm also a bit surprised at the pacing from a franchise perspective and I'm kinda stunned how quickly they've racked up the "traumatic event" body count. Richard, Mary, Ben, Capt. Stacy, Norman Osborne and Gwen are all dead and Harry's gone from childhood friend to deranged psychopathic mortal enemy in two movies. Six to five and pick 'em Aunt May eats it in TASM3
