Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
But TASM isn't even the best from the Amazing Spider-Man series. That title goes to the sequel, which better captures the Spider-Man spirit with the downside of being shallow. In the end it's an entertaining flick with the necessary changes to Spidey's costume, his swinging and public awareness. TASM was boring in its gritty and grounded approach, and they wasted an opportunity to use actual grounded enemies. It just screams playing it safe instead, and retelling a story we already knew didn't help.
