So is the current issue #686 numbered off of The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (the original) or off of some reboot?

@theconman1876: The same one (I think) but with different writers/artists.

Its kinda weird no one has embraced a reboot concidering all the shit we've endured with the current run; Maximun Carnage, the Clone Saga, One More Day. I'm still pissed they randomly brought Norman Osborn back from the dead for no reason. Or anyone for that matter, death kinda loses its impact when EVERYONE just comes back. I'm looking at you Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Kraven to name a few.

I wish the dead would stay dead in comics. So Doctor Octopus was killed before and then brought back, and now he's dying again? (sorry for all the questions, I just recently started reading The Amazing Spider-Man.)

@theconman1876: Exactly! He was dead and now he's dying again. Don't worry all the questions are cool, I used to be heavy into comics but now just getting back into them. So I'm playing catch up myself.

I guess I should mention that the numbering for Amazing Spider-man is a little wonky, they are numbered as such:

Amazing Spider-man 1-441 Then after that it goes back to number 1 soo..

Amazing Spider-man 1-58 Then after 58 they deciding to continue with the old numbering again

Amazing Spider-man 500-686 or whatever it's up to now.

The second they brought back Bucky I knew all bets were off, when I was a kid the rule was only Bucky and Uncle Ben are guaranteed to stay dead. Not saying anything bad about Winter Soldier but Bucky was gone for like 60 years

Kaine(one of Spider-man's clones) killed him.

Is that the same Kaine from Scarlet Spider? And did he become revived or did someone else pick up the mantle?

Yes it is the same Kaine. Originally during the clone saga there were two noteworthy clones of Spider-man; Ben Parker and Kaine. Kaine was evil and super powerful while Ben was identical to Peter Parker. Ben became the first Scarlet Spider and was basically a second Spider-man.Towards the end of the clone saga Ben dies, sometime during the Spider Island arc(I didn't read all of it) Kaine becomes a good guy and loses most of his strength and is now more like Peter. After that he moved to Texas and became the new Scarlet Spider which is the one I assume your talking about.

And I missed when Doc Octopus was revived.
