I want to say yes because I'm a big Spidey fan....but I just don't think they would gell together well. Spider-Man's more of a joker and laid back, while Ms. Marvel's more of serious personality. Spider-Man <3 Black Cat FTW

@azza04: Well.....It was recently revealed that Carol has a crush on peter(Thanks to mister Venom symbiote going through Carol's mind :P).
I think Peter needs a super woman as a girlfriend.His current girlfriend knows nothing about his secret identity,and we all know how that ends.But Carol would know about Peter's hectic schedule and wouldn't mind,unlike normal women.Also,Carol and Spider-Woman were talking about how they haven't dated anyone in forever lol.

I like Black Cat,but she needs to find some place besides Spider-Man to go.She needs to evolve into her own character,not just some rarely appearing Spidey ally.

@MarvelJackAss433: I would be happy with a Peter and Carol romance, but I would want to see them appear more together in one of the Avengers titles. Would be good to see them go through some tough missions or adventures side by side to watch their friendship and admiration for each other grow.

I think you're right about the Black Cat, it's sort of a knee jerk reaction to choose her as spideys partner but they have teased and gone there to many times now it's sort of gotten stale.

It would be a great idea, problem is his current gf. If miss Cooper was not in the picture I could see a flirtatious friendship evolve into a budding romance. Pete is always worried about his lady friends and his enemies going after them but Ms.Marvel can take care of herself and she could probably beat the crap out of him.Where they're "relationship" is now I would love to see them smooch in a heat of the moment situation or if one thinks the other might die or something. It would also be pretty cool to see their costumed relationship play out against their civilian relation; would they fight crime together, would they even get along out of costume and would Peter handle dating someone more powerful than him.

i think it would be cool. He would finally have a relationship where his partner could take care of herself and is even more powerful than him who would save his butt on occasion. it would be worth seeing.

@MarvelJackAss433: I agree with you about Black Cat; I think her little moment of self-realization when she was talking down a drunken, belligerent Rhino is going to turn out to be a huge turning point for the character.

I have no idea why they would bring this random woman into Peter's life....I mean Miss Cooper is just another Mary Jane >.<.

I think she should dump Peter due to him disappearing because of his Hero work.During that time,Carol should jump on the chance.As I said before,she already revealed she has a crush on Peter,and she said she wishes she could date more.

Actually, it WOULD make sense... I like Carlie, and I liked her BETTER when they first introduced her as a character, but....

As much as Peter STRUGGLES with worrying about the people in his life being hurt by his enemies, does it not make PERFECT sense to have a girlfriend who is nigh invulnerable??? Who can fly, so being tossed of a bridge by a goblin wouldn't be a problem. She has super strength and is a warrior so there's no worry that a tosser like Venom (who she totally trashed in Siege) is going to kidnap her... In fact, you'd think it'd be a major advantage for Spidey to have a girl friend who could seriously trash most of his regular villains...

Yes.

Peter Parker really needs to date within the superhuman community more. If he and Carol started hanging out more in his normal everyday life, it'd be great on him.

But there is a problem: Green Arrow + Black Canary. How'd that work out? Superheroes dating other super heroes makes a lot of sense, but unless they're team members w/o solo books it just ends up coming across as Storm/Black Panther's marriage has... bullshit.

And Spiderman is his own book; he's a team-player "2nd" in the eyes of fans. And that's something that, quite frankly, very few team members can say. I mean Captain America and Ironman still have their own books... but you know them more from their team books. What has Ironman done in his own series of late? Who gives a crap, that's what.

Anyways, the only way I could see them hooking him and Carol up is if they're going to kill her off. To show that Parker can't even protect super-powered women, and really screw him up.

Last time Peter had casual sex, there was some pretty big fan backlash.

So I don't see that happening.

I could see a break up in his own book (sensible, non-editorially forced) that, coupled with a halfway decent event (Secret Wars III: The secreting?), could push the two together in an actiony-way. The big question is whether they're compatible personally... last time I checked, they're probably not. She's a full time super heroine, he's... not.

Then again they don't do much with Carol since cancelling her book, so...

@labarith: It's odd. When the two first started working together there was sort of a chemistry between them. Then, it's as if someone else took over the writing.

She could have a great effect on him. Make him realize he needs to think more about things like training and tactics. Also, it's time for Spider-Man to learn (at least I think) that in the current Marvel World there's hardly a place for the secret identity any more. I hate that, but it's a brave new world... In a world where one's genome can be determined with a simple scan, and information spreads at the speed of thought, how much longer can he REALLY keep his identity a secret? I think the super hero registration thing was wrong, completely unconstitutional, but I don't see how heroes will keep their identities a secret much longer.

He, on the other hand, would be good for her in that he'd keep her more 'grounded' and help her remember the little guys. She's used to fighting the 'big fights' and leaving the clean up for someone else. I think it'd be interesting....

so, what was the big backlash at him having casual sex?

@Timandm: The consensus was that having a relationship that was just casual sex was out of character for him. Yes Peter does have high morals, but the man isn't a monk. I would like it if Peter and Carol became an item, she is more interesting than Carlie Cooper, that's for sure.

desirable, but given the way spiderman's been written it wouldn't last. writers of spiderman seem to agree on on thing, peter should never have anything good in his life for long. Awesome powers (gone in 60 seconds), awesome wife (best divorce ever, trading lawyers for the devil............hmmm) and now they're even reducing his regular power set, i'm just waiting to see which idiot writer is gonna take away everything he's gotten during "big time'.

I think they want to show that he's the guy that never gives up regardless of how bad things are....But, it just seems they just enjoy making him suffer....

Besides Ms. Marvel, let's not forget that Spiderwoman(Jessica Drew) is attracted to Peter Parker/Spiderman as well. My assumption is as follows:

On the Spiderman side of the relationship(Friends with benefits) they are:
1. The Blackcat
2. Ms. Marvel
3. Spiderwoman
4. Silver Sable
5. Psylocke

On the Peter Parker side of the relationship they are:
1. Mary Jane
2. Betty Brant
3. Liz Allan
4. Veronica Chase
5. Carlie Cooper

This would make a perfect balance of Spidey/Peter Parker female relationship.

No response thus far? I have been hearing some rumors that Spider-Woman x Ms. Marvel are in the closet lesbians. What do you guys think of that? I don't understand why Marvel wants to keep Peter Parker as a guy whose down on his luck. That would be keeping him on the same level as Archie for all eternity. I don't think that is what Stan Lee envisioned. The down on his luck Peter Parker ended when he left high school. It seems that Marvel wants to bring him beck where he belongs: In High School as a 15 year old down on his luck kind of guy we can relate to: Not!!!!

I don't know. I don't want them making Pete another hero that sleeps around with all the other heroes. That what makes him different, he doesn't really date his 'co-workers'. Maybe he knows it's bad for business.

In my opinion, I feel that Carol's mutual friendship with Peter isn't going to go beyond the "Pals" level for obvious reasons. If we all know that the romantic relationship is not going to last, why bother to even go there? While I feel that Carol and Peter will be very close friends, there is Silver Sable, Spider-Woman, and The Black Widow as well. Is he going to have a romantic relationship with each of them: NO! However, could he have a close mutual friendship with them: Yes!

The same applies to The She-Hulk and Psylocke as well.

I think that when you have a close friendship with at least 6 of these heroines, it insures that no one heroine will become a potential love interest for Spider-Man. And they could be used as an alternate crime fighting partner for Spider-Man depending on the story. The goal is to give the writer a choice of what heroines he wants to use in place of the Black Cat if he doesn't want to use her or she's not available. But this list that I created is just the sort of women who would be interested in Spider-Man/Peter Parker as mutual friend.
