Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
We don't know what Slott has planned yet... he's pretty much confirmed that "Superior Spider-Man" will not be Peter under the mask, but then later said that he was misquoted, which just adds to the confusion.
At first I thought peter would kill Doctor octopus because you have to look at the solicits before issue 700 Doc. Oc is pissed. Now I am thinking alpha clone.
I remember reading somewhere after Pete defeated Alpha, he said he would return and come back better and have a new uniform due to the embarrassing defeat by Pete/ Spiderman. Alpha said that he wanted everyone to forget about his time and appearance as Alpha. Alpha will be the Supreme Spiderman, it just occurred to me . This is the only thing that makes sense. Just my opinion though.

Alpha never had claws growing out of his feet and the Superior Spider-Man looks taller than Alpha does. So I think it's highly unlikely that Alpha is the Superior Spider-Man.
What I think will happen with Alpha is by the final 3 issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Doc Ock will recruit Alpha along with some other Spidey bad guys, give him his full powers back and set him loose. By 700, Alpha goes on a crazy rampage and maybe kills Aunt May, Doc Ock is in his death throes having his last revenge on Spider-Man and in order to stop Alpha, Spider-Man has to kill him, thus triggering a change in Peter's attitude and moral code. Then something happens to Peter (maybe he undergoes another Other like regeneration) which leads to him becoming the Superior Spider-Man. It's still Peter just with a new personality.
