once again, great selection hard to pick a fav
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17242 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
NYCC 2012: Mystery Art Challenge - Spider-Man and a Zombie
It amazes me how some of them are so good they can just draw and not have to rub out or correct anything. I guess when you're doing it for a living its to be expected but damn.
I love these. Agnes' was the best, but I'm totally biased, I just got a commission from her after seeing pictures from the weekly art thingy on here. She's just as nice as she seems!
Agnes seems just as adorable as her art work. Don't think I didn't notice her Black Lantern ring either.
Hey, Tony. Would you feel offended if I said that I knew Francis Manapul was drawing you as a zombie as soon as I saw him pencil in the nose?
Agnes Garbowska is really attractive. Just FYI.
I like seeing artists with different styles taking on characters they don't usually draw. \
Grrrrrreat job!
Agnes did her thing on this one. Basically the same concept as most of the other artists (having Spider-Man shooting webbing), but the execution surpassed theirs in my opinion. She's locked in and owns her particular style. It would be great to see more females incorporated into this kind of challenge. Watching so many artists approach to the same task had me imagining what I would have tried or thought of right there on the spot. Pressure. Well, 'fun' pressure.
@FoxxFireArt: Doctor Guerrero lives!
No offense taken. I didn't realize until I noticed Francis looking up at me occasionally.

I like how Daniel HDR was the only one that used the symbiote suit
and a no. 2 pencil
@ClintsEvilTwin: I saw Marcus To doing a Tim Drake commission and was using a regular Bic pen. Then seeing them all use Sharpies as well. It's all pretty cool what they can do with simple tools.
Francis Manapul is the only one who's zombie actually bites Spider so he's my winner although the bubble ruins it a little bit at the end. A very close 2nd goes to Agnes Grabowska. Her zombie looks funny and I usually don't even like her style much. Has she ever done any zombie comic before?
She was wearing a Black Lantern ring so she must have been ready for this challenge.
@DonFelipe: She actually has a webcomic called 'You, Me, and Zombie.'

Haha, sooo cute! Love it! Did I mention I usually don't like her art?
A little girl in a world full of zombie people. Works perfectly, again!
Thanks for the link.
Brian Buccellato and Agnes Garbowska were both adorable. This was a fun challenge. When I saw the title I was a bit like uhh, more Spiderman but it was fun seeing all these different takes on idea. Something I was curious about though which isn't mentioned on the video is the time it took to do each illustration. It's not necessary to be there it's just something I would personally be curious about.
Great art! It's very interesting how each artist gives his/her little touch that make each piece unique and great. And I absolutely loved Walsh's drawing.
@dcfox: Normally they've been around ten minutes or less. These were going at twenty-ish minutes. I watch. We talk during.
Wow these are all great! I like Nguyen assigning a "WTF" moment to Spidey in midst of the zombies. And Garbowska is just...so cute ^_^. Nauck's was wonderful in its hues of black and red, making it almost have a Walking Dead motif to it! Giarusso's is so darn adorable it makes me laugh..."POP!" Manapul's nomming zombie piece with Peter is stellar! Walsh's attention to detail was definitely not lost on me, great job! Looks like HDR had to take some thought before starting there, but kudos to him for doing the symbiote Spider-Man for his piece! And Booch is...well Booch is just purely awesome! Ahhhhh, Zombie Gwen!
Mystery art challenge is a great idea, keeps the artists on their toes, but its Francis, Agnes, then Todd.
Yes! Mystery Art Challenge! I love it! It's great seeing how each different artist draws in their different ways. Agnes' was the best tho!

yes Manapul also wins it to me and I loved the Nguyen one
@Xylase: I took it as Mary Jane. Going in for the upside Spider-Man kiss. And Spidey is saying 'no thanks' in his way.
I really liked how they all managed to get some sort of story going on.... Especially with Gwen and MJ.
Todd Nauck/todd-nauck/26-9641/ Is my fav artist for these things.
